Rat poison is usually an anticoagulant that is it is a chemical that stops blood from coagulating. So yes it should finish off (kill) an iguana if it eats enough of it.
How does the iguana escape from its enemies?
The iguana uses a number of clever tricks to escape its enemies. One tactic is to dive underwater, where it can hold its breath for up to 30 minutes. Another way it avoids predators is by staying perfectly still among the leaves, so that its green body blends in with its background. If attacked by a predator, an iguana can inflate the flap of skin (dewlap) under its chin and bob its head up and down to make itself look larger and more threatening. It can also lash out at an attacker with its tail, which doubles as a whip. If necessary, the tail can even come off (the iguana can grow a new one).

Iguanas are a type of tropical lizard. They have bony crests and are green in coloring. Iguanas are often kept as pets.
When Iguanas shed they are often pretty sedentary. It's pretty tiresome to shed off all of your skin and young Iguanas do it very often. However, if your Iguanas activity level has completely dropped to the point where you would describe them as 'lethargic' there could be a definite problem. Lethargy in Iguanas is often a sign of something very serious going on. With more information, a more detailed response could be given. Otherwise, I would take my Iguana to the vet if she was not eating at all.
Land iguanas are mainly herbivores. Though occasionally they will eat insects or scavenge for carcases.
Why is some iguanas brown while others are green?
Well it depends on the area they live in, if one lived in the forest it would have to adapt to hide from predators. if one lived in the rain forest it would be green for the same reason.

An Iguana in captivity can be "tamed" but always remember that they dont have the generations upon generations of selective breeding which makes dogs/cats so tame generally.
