How does insect pollination benefit the insect?
In holometabolous insects, larvae enjoy in only eating and growing, while adults are responsible for producing offspring and they don't eat much in some species. Pupal stage is the intermediate stage when all the transformation safely occur. Therefore, larvae and adults don't share food source, in another word, no food competition. And there is a division of labor, growing and reproduction separately. Living in different habitat is another amazing thing that only insect can do through metamorphosis. For instant, mosquito larvae live in the water, while adult can fly around and find blood meal. Imagine that, if human beings have the same ability as insects, then we will be able to swim like a fish and fly like a bird in our life.
What are the modification of insect legs?
Modification of insect legs in the morphological terms means changes according to the function required.
For example:
Insects have ambulatory legs having the most simple type of five major segments (coxa, trochanter, femur tibia and tarsus) for the most simple function i.e walking. Many other insects also have adapted their leg to perform other functions like cursorial for running present in cockroaches, raptorial for grasping prey these are prolegs of preying mantids have coxa very long and two rows of large spines on femur and tibia both, the femur have a groove between two spine rows in which tibia fits ,and natatorial meta legs of giant water bug have long hair on tarsus that help in swimming.

What insects have a nymph life cycle?

What color are poisonous insects?
The color depends upon the insect. For example, flies that pollinate night-blooming flowers tend to be attracted by pale colors or white. Many insects will be attracted to bright reds and yellows, with the bumblebee, as an example, preferring sky blue and sunset orange-red.
No, grasshoppers cannot spin webs. Spiders, considered arachnids and not insects like a grasshopper spin webs. Not all spiders spin webs, but those that do mainly use them to catch their food. There are other insects , like butterflies and silkworms, that produce a web-like substance. this substance is used to make their cocoons though, not to spin webs.
What insects do not have an exoskeleton?
Insects by definition have no backbones.
Instead of endoskeletons (bones within flesh, as have mammals, fish, etc) adult insects all have exoskeletons(hard shells surrounding flesh)

How are amphibian metamorphosis and insect metamorphosis different and alike?
Both amphibian metamorphosis and insect metamorphosis are alike because one animal or insect becomes an entirely new animal or insect. They are different in the process, however. The frog actually mutates from a tiny tadpole to an adult frog. The caterpillar wraps itself in a cocoon where the mutation is not visible.
It's just the balance of nature. Mosquitoes (along with many other insects and animals) exist to balance each other out.
Bites are the fault of the female mosquito, who punctures your skin and sucks your blood. A natural mosquito bite itch reliever would be toothpaste, lemon juice, and some more, but I can't remember all of them. Go on google and search "Natural mosquito bite itch reliever" for more info.
What biological characteristics have contributed to the success of insects?
Several biological characteristics have contributed to the success of insects. For example, they have the ability to fly at great speeds and distances, they have a small, lightweight exoskeleton that needs few nutrients and they can reproduce rapidly.
The real question should be, does sweat sting when it flies.
Why does a viceroy butterfly looks sounds and moves like monarch butterfly?
Both Monarchs and Viceroy are equally poisonous to birds and other predators. This was not discovered until 1991, when entymologists examined the Batesian theory of mimicry and discovered that the Viceroy is also poisonous. The mimicry is possibly by both species - they are able to double up on predator recognition. If you have any other butterfly questions, e-mail them to me @ liviebug97@yahoo.com. I'd be more than happy to answer them for you!
Those are likely lacewing eggs, which are beneficial insects that feed on aphids and other pests. The clear larvae with black heads are lacewing larvae, also known as aphid lions, which continue to feed on pest insects. It's best to leave them in the garden as they help control pest populations naturally.
An ant generally lives in a nest/colony made up of several hundred to several thousand ants. Some colonies have been found to have millions of ants. Most Ants have one large ant called a queen ant who lays all of the eggs. The vast majority of Ants in a nest are workers and they are female The only males are the ones that fly out of the nest and mate with a young queen ant so that she can start her own colony. Some ant colonies will have more than one queen. These are the nests that are really large. Most nests are found in the ground though some have been found in walls of buildings and in tree trunks. Really, ants can build a nest just about anywhere.
Does Sevin insecticide kill stink bugs?
Yes. I have used it several times both on my garden and on my house to kill stink bugs (brown marmorated stinkers).
My only concern was my pets and my daughter, which I kept away from the sprayed areas for 2 days after spraying. I always did it at dusk so as to minimize the danger to honey/bumble bees as it will kill them, and most every other insect. read the directions carefully and don't spray too much.
Do insects make their own food?
Carnivorous plants - such as the Venus Fly-trap, Pitcher and Sundew - make their food from dissolving the bodies of the insects that are trapped. The plant excretes enzymes to break-down the tissues of the insects, and the plant absorbs the nutrients.
Ear wicks are small, soft, cone-shaped devices that are inserted into the ear canal to help remove excess earwax. They are typically made of cotton or a similar material and are designed to be gentle on the ear.
yes they eat plants like flowers and they eat animals like squirrls mice frogs and bears and bugs like butterflies bees and dragonflies and they eat baby and adult human too. so it is an omnivore
This depends on the type of ant and location.
In general, there is one day in the year when the colony of ants release winged Queens and males and they mate. The wings drop off and the males die.
(The Queen stores the sperm and uses it for the rest of her life to fertilize each egg she lays.)
In England this day is usually a very hot day in the summer (July/ August) and winged ants appear simultaneously from many nests. Sometimes there are two days when it happens.
