What are very tiny black bugs found on the basement bathroom window sills?

I'm searching the very same question and from what I've seen and read online it appears they're mites of some sort or another, perhaps velvet mites or red clover mites or as I've named them the never-ending-hords-of-itty-bitty-red-dots. Anyhow most importantly everywhere I checked they've stated they don't bite and they pose no harm, unless you want to count bothersome if your situation is like mine as I've been sweeping them up 3 times a day by the dozens and I'm on day 3 now :( Someone somewhere in my searches said to use a miticide to control them, but I'm not familiar with the chemicals in that so I'd rather hold off and just keep sweeping as they're in my daughter's bedroom window. Anyhow good luck to you.

What are two examples of insect pollinated plants?

Two examples of insect-pollinated plants are sunflowers and lavender. Insect pollination is crucial for the successful growth and sustainability of many plant species.

it is spider and especially Tegenaria gigantea - which can travel in a speed of about 1.73 ft/sec (1.17 mph)

Spiders have 8 legs :D ~ Brianna

A spider is an araneae, an order of arachnid they are not in the same classification as an insect. As for the fastest insect, I would bet on one of the flying varieties. Though I do not have an answer as to which one.

Well no offense but the person that said spider is an idiot which is one the second statement that I would like to say is that the fastest six legged CREATURE is a cockaroach

What makes an insect different from a bug?

There are two answers to this question. Slightly confusing!

  1. Formally, a true bug (Hemiptera) is a kind of insect. It is distinguished because it has a beak for piercing and sucking. Usually the bug sucks sap from a plant (aphids, scale insects), but some bugs suck blood etc from other insects, animals and even humans (fleas, bedbugs, mosquitoes). (Strictly, all bugs are insects, but not all insects are bugs!)
  2. Informally, an insect is a kind of bug. The word bug is used to refer to arthropods, the rank above insects. Arthropods include all insects as well as arachnidsand crustaceans (spiders, scorpions, centipedes, prawns and crabs, and the now extinct trilobite). (Informally, all insects are bugs, but not all bugs are insects!)
A:Actually bugs are considered a type of insect. They are classified under the order name hemiptera and in the Insecta class.

True bugs are identified by the shape of their mouth which is like a needle or straw which is called a stylet or rostrum. They also have very specific membranous wings where it is think and dark where it connects to the body but goes transparent nearer the ends. Insects such as ants, termites and butterflies only have one of these qualities therefore are not true bugs.

A:The big thing that defines bugs is they have a hypodermic needle like mouth, so that they can extract food from the inside of a flower, or from the inside of a living or once living victim.

What is the function of insect?

Any of numerous usually small arthropod animals of the class Insecta, having an adult stage characterized by three pairs of legs and a body segmented into head, thorax, and abdomen and usually having two pairs of wings. Insects include the flies, crickets, mosquitoes, beetles, butterflies, and bees.

Insects are a class of invertebrates within the phylum Arthropoda. They are characterised by all having six jointed legs, an exoskeleton divided into three body parts (head, thorax, abdomen). Most insects have wings, though not all. Insects are the only invertebrates that can fly.

What are the similarities of a butterfly and grasshopper by their wings?

Butterflies and moths are a group of insects called Lepidoptera. Like all insects, butterflies and moths have a head, thorax, abdomen, two antennae, and six legs. Additionally, moths and butterflies have four wings that are almost always covered by colored scales, and a coiled proboscis for drinking liquids such as flower nectar.

Lepidoptera is derived from the Latin lepido= scale + ptera = wing.

They reproduce in large numbers and have short generations.

Not every insect breed is succesfull. But I think I know what you want to ask - its because insects live in large group colonies, have millions of babies at one time and their colonies are very well organised, so every unit has their own duties to do. Understood? -Sweetlolly11

What are the four stages of a ladybugs life cycle?

40 Days Honey bees have four stages in their life cycle: egg, larva, pupa and adult. About three days after the queen lays the egg in a brood cell it hatches into the larva, which is then fed by the nurse bees for about six days. After this the lava pupates and the bees cap the cell with wax. The pupal stage lasts 11 or 12 days, after which the adult will break through the wax cap and emerge from the cell.

An adult bees tasks change as it grows older: * Day 1 and 2: She will be concerned with cleaning cells as they become empty. * Day 3 to 11: She will become a nurse bee and will feed the larvae * Day 12 to 17: Her wax glands will have developed and she will produce wax and build and repair cells. At this stage she will also store nectar and pollen brought in by other workers. Other hive tasks include feeding the queen and drones, packing pollen into cells, and fanning the hive by beating their wings to circulate air and control the temperature. * Day 18 to 21: She will become a guard bee and will protect the hive entrance from enemies. * From day 22: She will become a forager and will go out to collect nectar and pollen or a resinous substance called propolis which is used to cover the walls of the hive. During the summer, a worker bee will live for four to six weeks. In colder climates, in the winter a worker bee will rarely leave the hive and can live for several months.
