Mossberg has always put out a quality product. 59-71. They were also sold under other comapny names and model numbetrs. Mossberg's model numbers never went that high.

I'm not sure if it's a champion but I do own an Iver Johnson 24 gauge shotgun...single break action...I beleive they were made between 1909 to 1913... my grand father first gun at 14 yrs old...

It is a tedious and time consuming process, but, it can be done.

Locate the latch, usually a T-Shaped lever with knurled surfaces on each end of the stem of the T. This is located above the hammer. Grasp the knurled surfaces with thumb and forefinger and lift up with a rotating motion. While holding this up and clear of the frame, use the heel of your hand to press the barrel downward, brasking the gun open. Some guns, other than Iver Johnson, have a thumb latch activated by the thumb, pushing forward on the thumb latch. Opening the top-break revolver the extractor will automatically raise as the barrel is lowered. Opening the gun full, the extractor will snap back down for loading cartridges into the cylinder. Not a lot of info available on the individual models Iver Johnson manufactured. The company began in 1871 as Johnson Bye & Co.. About 1883 the name of the company changed to Iver Johnson & Co.. In 1891 the name was changed to Iver Johnson's Arms & Cycle Works. Iver Johnson produced firearms under various names and owners form 1871 until 1993. It's]reputation was for low cost, reliable products. Little to no collector interest. Values rarely exceed 100 or so. FYI, serial numbers were not required prior to 1968. Hmm -- is "2144891" the correct S/N or was it correct in the previous question, where it was "214891"? The answer changes considerably. Savage made three different semi-automatic pistols in .32 ACP and used a continuous serial numbering system for all three. The last Savage .32 ACP pistol made had a serial number of only 259472, so the number you are providing is either incorrect or not a serial number. The serial number should be stamped below the barrel at the front of the frame.
