How much did the movie Jaws cost to make?

At last, an answser here! Scanning thru the JAWS LOG, about the making of the film, the schedule and budget doubled. 5 1/2 months was mentioned as when they got back (from hell), though I couldn't specifically find the shooting time. That fits with Eight weeks (48 days). being a "typical" feature film production time; Jaws, being a major feature, would be more. This doesn't include post production (editing, effects, music, etc) Titanic (1997) had a 6 month (163 day) shoot. UPDATE:"...grueling five-month shoot on Martha's Vineyard." Spielberg was only able to get a handful of the planned shark shots filmed over the course of the excruciating five-month shoot. Therefore, he was forced to substantively change the film on the fly. "Bruce" or "The Great White Turd" as Spielberg called the mechanical shark, was a major problem. Shooting at sea led to many delays. http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/jaws30th.php

How was the shark from Jaws controlled?

Three mechanical sharks -- all nicknamed Bruce, after Steven Spielberg's lawyer -- were used in the making of the movie Jaws.

No real sharks were used, except for the footage of the shark attacking the underwater cage. That was filmed (on a completely separate location, in Australia) with a real shark (although the cage was very tiny, and the diver inside who was standing in for Matt Hooper/Richard Dreyfuss was a little person (like, 3 feet tall). The shark was only average sized: the tiny cage and diver make it look gigantic.

Is Jaws the shark real?

Of course not... Some sharks, as the lemon shark, can be quite docile. Others, as the Great white, are known to not survive in captivity. (good thing for them, otherwise we would probably be able to see them in dubious aquariums...)

Does Sharks teeth are attached directly to jaw bone?

Sharks do lack real bones except for in there jaw. Without jaw bones sharks would not be able to survive because they would not be able to eat.

Did any sharks die in Jaws 3?

Late in the movie, FitzRoyce attempts to lure the huge shark into a filtration pipe to trap it there. His plan fails, and the shark overtakes him. With a little maneuvering, the shark takes FitzRoyce all the way inside its mouth, noisily "chews" and crunches him several times, and crushes him to death. He brought a grenade with him, but he was unable (or unwilling) to detonate it while he was getting eaten. The shark escapes from the filtration pipe, crashes through a giant plate glass window, and floods an underwater control room. It snags a hapless, struggling technician in its jaws, swiftly crunches and kills him with a few crushing bites, and spits him out. Then, as the shark menaces other people in the control room--gnashing its jaws at them--we see FitzRoyce's dead body lodged deep inside the shark's mouth, with the grenade still clenched in his hand. Mike Brody, who is wearing full diving gear, reaches into the shark's mouth with a long metal rod and pulls the pin on the grenade. BOOM! No more shark.

How many mechanical sharks played Jaws?

3

Three full-size pneumatically powered prop sharks were made for the production: a "sea-sled shark", a full bodied prop with its belly missing that was towed with a 300′ (roughly 100 m) line, and two 'platform sharks', one that moved from camera-left to -right (with its hidden side completely exposing a wide array of pneumatic hoses), and an opposite model with its right flank uncovered.[20] The sharks were designed by art director Joe Alves during the fall of 1973.3

How do you boil a shark jaw?

Helps if you bury it in the ground for a few months first, so the insects can work on it for a while. I use a large stock pot and 5-6 gallons of water when I'm boiling shark jaws.

During the production what was JAW'S the shark's nickname?

The nickname given to the mechanical shark by it's handlers was 'Bruce'. Correction: the sharks name "Bruce" came from Steven Speilbergs attorney. Joe Alves was Bruce the sharks handler.

In jaws how did they know it was a shark?

Remember that Hooper the marine biologist did the autopsy. The bite marks / lacerations (how the flesh is carved) are indicative of what type of shark, including a suggestion of size.

Amazing thing is that Jaws is only 3.5 feet longer than the largest Great Whites ever caught. (Jaws = 25', largest captured GW's approach 22')

So while it appears to be ridiculously/impossibly large, id say that there have been 25 foot GW's out there.

FUN FACT: They have attached sat nav trackers to GW's and some swim around Perth (western australia) before going non stop, amazingly fast, to Africa. Some dive down to over 1km in depth.
