Answer 1
Yes, she was captured by the FRENCH Bugundians and sold to the British. The FRENCH Catholic authorities who were British supporters tried Joan and condemned her to being burned at the stake. A FRENCHman was the executioner who ultimately killed Joan.
Answer 2
No, she was captured by the Burgundians and burned at the orders of the English.
To use the term "French" at the time Joan of Arc was living to refer to the Burgundians would be an anachronism as would it be for French people under areas of English control. Burgundy was outside of the control of the French monarchy and was an ally of the English. While the Burgundians who killed her would have been French if they were born a century later (in exactly the same places) this does not make them French. Pierre Cauchon, the Bishop of Beauvais who convicted Joan of Arc of witchcraft and Geoffroy Thérage, her executioner, were ethnically French, but born in areas under English occupation at the time. Their loyalties were to England, not to the French monarchy.
Joan was much too concerned with her military campaigns to be concerned with trichotillomania. The term was not even known at the time.
What did the sign on the stake say when Joan of Arc was burned?
The sign on the stake you saw was actually only one artist's representation of what happened when the Joan of Arc was executed. Remember that art doesn't necessarily depict the exact truth. According to accounts and historians the only thingwe know of her death was that she was burned at a stake, asked for a cross so the English produced a small cross for her before she died, and then her remains were burned twice more before being disposed of. Not the prettiest thing ever, but none the less the accepted truth, we do not know if there was truly ever a sign on the stake.
