There are two movie versions of Lord of the Flies. The 1963 version, shot in Black & White, sticks fairly closely to the original story, missing out a few incidents because of time restraints. Jack in the book was an aggressive obsessive boy and his actions were not reasonable. Of the two movies the original black and white version sticks most closely to the book. The later version, by altering the plot and characters, loses much of the impact of the book and reduces the adaptation to a throw away boys' adventure story.
