Although no website lists the date the Amazon Kindle was invented (Amazon wants to keep this date a complete secret), it's release date is available. It was first sold was on November 19, 2007.

If you use a micro-usb cable and connect it to your computer, you can transfer files to and from your Kindle just like it was an external hard drive. Place any .mobi files in the Books folder, and place .pdf and other formats in the Documents folder. Once you've added your files, you may need to restart the Kindle to get it to recognize your new books.

The books for the Kindle can cost anything from FREE to $9.99. The $9.99 books are usually for a new release book which, if you purchased in regular book form, would probably be hardback.

The E-Ink technology is courtesy of E-Ink (Cambridge, Massachusetts). Which was purchased by Taiwan-based Prime View International (now E Ink Holdings, Inc.)in mid-2009 for $215 Million. The CDMA Chip is from Qualcomm. The microprocessor was made by Freescale Semiconductor (Austin, Texas). In some models, WIFI is provided by Marvell.

All parts are then assembled at various factories in the region for pennies on the dollar.

Bear in mind that in many countries (except the US) you'll need to pay import duties (I sent it to an Eastern European country back when the price was 255USD and the recipient paid the equivalent of 55USD in duties).

And you have to buy the books to download onto it but they are only about $10.00 or so. And there is free Wi-Fi, so you can buy a book anywhere. I have one and I love it. :)

To put music on your kindle you must plug your kindle into the computer. Once you plug it in a little pop up will show asking what you want to do. Hit open folder to view files. There will be a list. Including documents, music, and more. You double-click over music and simply copy and paste from the music on your computer. You can drag and drop if you don't know how to copy and paste. Right after you paste it (depending on how many you are putting at a time) it will download fairly wuickly. And it is on your kindle. Easy as pie.

I am absolutely sold on my e-reader and wish they would have been available when I was a child instead of having to wait until I was in my sixties. Reading is so much faster not having to deal with page turning (I was always having to dink with having too many pages picked up by my fingers and having to separate out the page needing turned). So nice having a light weight 'book' to hold instead of a heavy book to balance. Would not trade away my e-reader for anything except perhaps ten more years of healthy lifetime. And then I'd turn right around and buy another one.

Amazon.com has the best price on new kindles. You would be hard pressed to find a Kindle somewhere else that is cheaper.

Try to sync. If you look at the top of your kindle fire HD where it says the time scroll down and there is a little sign that looks similar to a recycle sign and under it it says sync. Click it and try to open your apps again. It worked for me

No, right now Kindle doesn't display color. It does have 16 shades of gray, so you're able to see photos and other images.

But the new Kindle Fire is in color. You can pre-order it on amazon.com for $199. But it doesn't have built-in 3G like the kindle 3.

Go to Project Gutenberg, and select the Kindle-compatible version of the book you're interested in. Then save it to your computer.

Connect the Kindle to your computer using the USB cable you received together with the device. The Kindle will now act like any flash storage device, so open My Computer and then double-click on the Kindle drive. You'll see a set of folders, including one called Documents.

Copy the book from your computer and paste it into the Documents folder in your Kindle.

Unplug the Kindle from your computer or, if you want to keep charging the battery, eject it (right-click on the Kindle drive in My Computer) and the new book will be on your Home list.

yes, you can download just a few apps on the newest one. but it is mainly made for reading on. but im not so sure

No, unfortunately you can't. The Nook system is different than a computers so it doesn't send signals to a printer.

You have to go into lists, and there you will see 'create new collection'. click on that and then choose a name for it. When you want to add books to your collection click on the collection, then 'add books'. Then you can add all the books you like. Hope this helps!!

No.. there's no charge for using your Kindle but there ARE magazine and newspaper subscriptions available that have a monthly fee for using them. I've read of people subscribing to their local newspaper so they can read it on their Kindle while taking a train to work or they just find it more convenient as well as saving trees.

If you have discovered a book that's not in kindle format, you can contact Amazon through their web-site and recommend it to be converted.
