If by broken means the screen is cracked due to dropping it, dropping something on it or- as I did- sitting on it then I would in the first instance call Amazon and own up, chances are they'll sort you out somehow even if it isn't in warranty- maybe a replacement, discount on a new one or a good deal on a refurbished one.

Your question is illogical. First, a regular Kindle does not even run a version of Android so you can not root the device. Second, how do you root a device you don't have without having the the device. But, you can root a Kindle Fire which runs a custom version of Android 2.3. Please specify you question, are you talking about a regular Kindle or a Kindle Fire?

I love computer folks and their thought that all of us use their language. I was baffled by that message too. I did some research and here is what I came up with...

Go to the start menu on your computer while the kindle is plugged into your usb port. Go to My Computer (or just Computer on Windows Vista). Open that and you should see your kindle in one of your drives. Right click over that drive and you should see an option to eject. Click on that and you should be able to go back to reading your kindle.

Why it doesn't say "Go to start menu, then my computer then right click on kindle and click eject" to continue reading while plugged into the usb port....is totally beyond me.

You can share books on different Kindles if they are registered on the same amazon account. If they are on the same account, all the books that can be shared are in the Archived Items on the home page. If they are not registered on the same account, you can switch the registration and download the books on the Kindle and then switch back to your own account.

Good answer! When I bought a Kindle for my wife this Spring, a few hours later, I went to the Kindle part of Amazon, and found 3 free books that I thought she would like, and they were uploaded to the Kindle during shipping, and were on there when she opened the package.
