Yes! Here's how to listen to a book:

1. Go to the book you want.

2. When you've opened the book, press the Text Button (the Aa button).

3. Move the cursor down to "Text-to-Speech" and click the button that says "turn on".

4. Your Kindle will start reading to you. If you want to turn the volume up or down, there are two buttons on the bottom left of the Kindle. Press the one on the left to turn the volume down, or the one on the right to turn the volume up.

I love computer folks and their thought that all of us use their language. I was baffled by that message too. I did some research and here is what I came up with...

Go to the start menu on your computer while the kindle is plugged into your usb port. Go to My Computer (or just Computer on Windows Vista). Open that and you should see your kindle in one of your drives. Right click over that drive and you should see an option to eject. Click on that and you should be able to go back to reading your kindle.

Why it doesn't say "Go to start menu, then my computer then right click on kindle and click eject" to continue reading while plugged into the usb port....is totally beyond me.

You can share books on different Kindles if they are registered on the same amazon account. If they are on the same account, all the books that can be shared are in the Archived Items on the home page. If they are not registered on the same account, you can switch the registration and download the books on the Kindle and then switch back to your own account.

No! The Amazon Kindle comes with zero books on it. You will have to buy books from the Kindle store or from other sources, some of which are free.

Good answer! When I bought a Kindle for my wife this Spring, a few hours later, I went to the Kindle part of Amazon, and found 3 free books that I thought she would like, and they were uploaded to the Kindle during shipping, and were on there when she opened the package.

To put music on your kindle you must plug your kindle into the computer. Once you plug it in a little pop up will show asking what you want to do. Hit open folder to view files. There will be a list. Including documents, music, and more. You double-click over music and simply copy and paste from the music on your computer. You can drag and drop if you don't know how to copy and paste. Right after you paste it (depending on how many you are putting at a time) it will download fairly wuickly. And it is on your kindle. Easy as pie.

You people need to do some searching on your own instead of relying on an answer given by someone else.

I am absolutely sold on my e-reader and wish they would have been available when I was a child instead of having to wait until I was in my sixties. Reading is so much faster not having to deal with page turning (I was always having to dink with having too many pages picked up by my fingers and having to separate out the page needing turned). So nice having a light weight 'book' to hold instead of a heavy book to balance. Would not trade away my e-reader for anything except perhaps ten more years of healthy lifetime. And then I'd turn right around and buy another one.
