Why does Hindu goddess Krishna have a flute?

To understand this we must know the unique nature of Hinduism, the purpose of Hindu gods and the musical instruments associated with them.

The Unique feature of Hinduism:

Hinduism is not a code of conduct based religion. In this the inertial force that facilitates or retards what we do is manipulated to gain control over our thoughts and actions.

We vary the inertial force by moving the center of gravity.

The seven basic Hindu gods:

There are seven centers of gravity in our body and each of them is represented by a Hindu god.

They are,

1. Feet - Indra

2. Knees - Shakti

3. Hips - Brahma

4. Abdomen - Vishnu

5. Chest - Shiva

6. Neck - Shani

7. Head - Yama.

Hindu gods and musical instruments:

The idols of each of the seven basic Hindu gods is such that a mere look at them would move our center of gravity to the position associated with it. The music associated with the god makes the shifting of the center of gravity more reliable and precise.

Vishnu and the conch:

Vishnu symbolically represents water because he symbolizes the semi voluntary force, which makes life flexible. He is associated with Conch, which is found in water.

Disadvantages of Vishnu:

1. Vishnu is a status quo maintaining god. This is a disadvantage in the materialistic world.

2. He determines our status by our average skill and thus he is more suited for people at the top.

Krishna - the god of the masses:

The two disadvantages of Vishnu are overcome in the Krishna incarnation, by discarding all components of the Semi voluntary force except the Positive attitude. Thus, Krishna is symbolic of the positive attitude.

This means that Krishna can't be associated with water and conch.

Krishna and the flute:

Krishna is the last incarnation of Vishnu. Buddha is not widely accepted as an incarnation of Vishnu. Kalki incarnation is yet to be seen.

Krishna is a god of the masses. He represents just the positive attitude, which is vital for our survival. We must have a musical instrument, which can take us to our positive attitude, situated at the lowest part of our abdomen. The musical instrument must be such that it is available every where.

Flute is the simplest and the cheapest musical instrument. It is made from a peace of bamboo, which is available everywhere in India.

Thus, we always associate Krishna with a flute, as it is a short cut to our positive attitude.

THE FATHER OF VISHNU

Hindus who believe that Vishnu is the supreme Hindu god consider him as Adibhagavan or eternal god. This means that Vishnu has no birth and therefore no father.

THE CONCEPT OF BRAHMAN AS FATHER OF VISHNU

It is well accepted in Hinduism that all gods originate from Brahman.

According to Manu Smriti Purusha, who is the same as Brahman (Manu Smriti 1.11) is made of seven Maha Purushas. Though not mentioned in Hindu scriptures, we can conclude that Vishnu is the central of the seven Mahapurushas.

Thus, it is tempting to conclude that Brahman, in the real form, is the father of Vishnu.

However, such a concept has no practical use because Brahman is beyond the comprehension of practically all Hindus.

What is the favorite flower of lord Krishna?

Tulsi or Tulasi leaves is the most important leaf used in pujas and prayers dedicated to Lord Krishna. Tulasi acts both as a flower and leaf. In most temples it is also offered as Prasada. It is also known as Krishna Tulsi - a dark variety of the plant. It is holy basil in English and in most Indian languages it is known as Tulsi or Thulasi.

According to mythology, Pārijāta is a heavenly tree brought to earth by lord Krishna. A quarrel over it ensued between Satyabhama and Rukmini, Krishna's wives. But Krishna planted the tree in Satyabhama's courtyard in a way that when the tree flowered, the flowers fell in Rukmini's courtyard.

Lord Vishnu's heavenly throne is placed under a flowering Parijata tree, and Hanuman lives under its shade.

Another romantic story woven around the tree is about princess Pārijāta who fell in love with the sun. When he deserted her she committed suicide and a tree sprung from the ashes. Unable to stand the sight of the lover who left her, the tree flowers only at night and sheds them like tear-drops before the sun rises.

It is always said by elders that the greatest offering to Lord Krishna is a Tulsi leaf.

Flowers that are avoided during Krishna Puja include hibiscus, milkweed and angel's trumpets.

What is Lord Krishna's vahana?

Lord Krishna was born like an ordinary human being. He grew like ordinary human being. He acted as per composition of his genetic material. Only the difference between Him and ordinary human being is that He knew that He is the Almighty. He knew that He is God. He came to save the mankind in particular and ecosystem in general. Rather to save the people, who are good and to destroy the people, who are bad. He did not do it Himself in the war of Mahabharata. He guided the Arjuna about salvation of souls. He came with the solution to the problems of mankind. He died like ordinary human being after His job was done. So He has no 'vahana' (that means a mount.) Here I want to point to the life of Lord Jesus. He was born as ordinary child. Grew as ordinary child. He came to save the mankind in particular and ecosystem in general. Lord Jesus was crucified. It was not beyond the power of Lord to resist those few people. But He did not do it. It is beyond the capacity of ordinary mortals to understand the Almighty God. We perceive as per our perceptions. We conclude as per our miniature brain allows us to conclude. Our conclusions are dominated by silly ego. It takes some intelligence to know that you are an idiot.

  2. To propagate a consciousness of Krishna (God), as it is revealed in the great scriptures of India, Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam.
  3. To bring the members of the Society together with each other and nearer to Krishna, the prime entity, thus developing the idea within the members, and humanity at large, that each soul is part and parcel of the quality of Godhead (Krishna).
  4. To teach and encourage the sankirtana movement, congregational chanting of the holy name of God, as revealed in the teachings of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
  5. To erect for the members and for society at large a holy place of transcendental pastimes dedicated to the personality of Krishna.

What is the exact date of birth of lord Krishna?

I believe Lord Vishnu ( Krishna) is known at least 10,000 years ago. Lord Vishnu, is the oldest God known to mankind. He is acknowledged as being The Creator. Today, amongst the religions that have their root in Judaismn (5000 years) from the time of Abraham do not realize that Lord Vishnu is the One God, known by other names such as Jehovah and Allah.

"What you believe is based on what your hear in rumors. Please do not call Jesus as Lord Vishnu. You do not know the bible or its claims. In fact you are ignorant. Second you have no reference as to why Krishna is 10,000 years old. One you do not know how old this planet is. We know Jesus is accurately about 2000 years old through astronomy and what is written in the bible and has been verified. The only other God who has such level of accuracy would be Lord Ram who lived about 5000 years. Therefore Hindu mythology cannot possibly extend beyond a reasonable 6000-7000 year history if that. The bible is far more trustworthy than any other religious texts because of archeaology. Since Christ is about 2000 years old, it would seem that if he spoke of Lord Vishnu he would have said so in the bible. Since it is not known, you are at a great error. All other Hindu Gods recognize their various incarnation but they never spoke of Christ, and Christ never spoke of them. Therefore please please please do not rely on what you hear but be not lazy and give some time to searching the answers.

"The Bible portion that references Jesus is the New Testament and was written 300 to 400 years after the death of Christ, so the reliability is based upon rumors using your vernacular and I imagine you are an ignorant Christian that your beliefs as supreme. Even during the sojourn of Abraham in Egypt, the Egyptians were worshiping one God. The Creator is known by many names and is One. Christ did not come to found a new religion nor set himself up as a god, rather he came to restate what was already written in Leviticus. I really do not believe that you know what you are talking about. If any reference to Christ would have been made it would come from Lord Chaitanya (spelling may be in error) not Lord Vishnu, as Christ was not conceived yet. The paths of worship as followed by Christians, Jew, Muslims, Hindu's, Buddhist, etc. are devised according to the consciousness of the people the religion services in its geographic area.

"The Egyptions did not worship one God they workshipped many. The bible records that the God of the Hebrews punished the Egyptions and they were not able to do defend themselves. In reality it was a war between the God of Israel and the devil. Of course the devil had to lose. Reliability of the bible is not based on when it was written, but rather the countless prophecies it makes and have come true. The old testament and the new testament together make up about 66 books of the bible and they all say the same thing. No contradictions. If one can find errors in the bible, they are typographical "human" errors not spiritual ones. The bible records not only the thoughts of God but also of man. At the end of the day, God wants to know your decision. Will you choose his Son's sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of sin you desperately need, or will you trample over the precious blood of Jesus? You see Jesus said "I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except thru me" Jesus also said "I am the light of the world" The most powerful verse in the bible when taken seriously, is John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever would believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life". My friend their is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain!!! .

Their is ample evidence that Jesus existed even his original photograph that He himself as made on his own burial cloth. Look up 'The Shroud of Turin" for further explanation. Nothing like this exists for any other God. My friend Jesus is pure love and has fullfilled the law that we all cannot keep. We are all bankrupt sinners who can never repay our sin debt. Let Jesus pay for your sins freely by just accepting the blood. What could be better than to live in peace with God. Jesus loves you enough to take a wild beating that was very painful and then suffer death on the cross. Can you really ask God for more proof that he loves you infinitely??

Amen.

What is the age of lord Krishna when he died?

Yes he died by an arrow of some king who was on hunting and by mistake who hit it to Lord Krishna

Answer:

Like all traditions there are more than one potential answer. Vyasa's Mahābhārata reports that Krishna ascended to heaven. Sarala's Mahabhārata details a version where a hunter mistook Krishna's partly visible left foot for a deer (a decoration looked like a deer's eye) and shot an arrow which wounded him mortally.
