What is the telephone number for the Lagos Police Department in Lagos Nigeria?

Lagos, Nigeria is either the state of Lagos or the island of Lagos. "Lagos" really is not descriptive enough to know where you are calling. Internet sites crop up for one of the 16 different governments in Lagos every now and then (and there are some currently), but you must know what area within Lagos you need to call. For travel concerns or concerns about a person within Nigeria, see the U.S. Department of State's website generally for an embassy or consulate contact. For complaints about Nigerian financial fraud (4-1-9 fraud or fraudulent email money scams), go the U. S. Department of State's website and search on the words "Advance fee scams." That entry has a link to an Internet Crime Complaint Center.

The U.S. Secret Service website says: "If you have suffered a significant financial loss related to advance fee fraud, please contact your local Secret Service field office. Telephone numbers are available in the field office directory or may also be found on the inside cover of your local telephone directory. Any investigation regarding this type of fraud will be conducted on a case by case basis at the discretion of the local Secret Service office and U.S. Attorney's Office."

Why was waste disposal not a problem in the past?

Increase in population, products, and consumption has changed drastically. What makes you think it wasn't a problem? It's a sad commentary that so many otherwise educated people think pollution started in 1974 or something like that. Wrong. The FORM of pollution may have changed, but there has always been waste, and in many ways, it was a LOT worse back in the "good old days". For example, prior to the advent of the automobile, there would be an average of 60 to 80 THOUSAND horses a day traversing up and down the island of Manhatten. When it rained, the raw sewage, both human and animal, flooded the streets to six inches or more. Before the advent of sewers and public sanitation, you threw your garbage (food, wastewater, "night soil" etc) right out in the street. There was very little thought of any kind of basic sanitation, which is why we had those fun times such as the Black Death, the bubonic plague, and other little nasties. The main reason we think "waste" started in 1974 is that very few Western movies, or any depictions of life prior to 1900, show the huge mounds of horse dung, oxen dung, cow dung, chicken dung, and pig dung that was everywhere those days - its as if no animal ever had to defecate on the streets.

Is Gombe state worth relocating to from lagos?

Gombe State is worth relocating to simply because of the following reasons: 1. It is situated in the centre of the North Eastern Nigeria just as Abuja is situated in the centre of Nigeria. The State is not too far from Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba and Bauchi States. 2. It is a major centre of commerce in North Eastern Nigeria. 3. The State is blessed with industrious and educated people as many Nigerians from the South Westen Nigeria, South Eastern Nigeria and Southern Nigeria have made it there second home. 4. The State is one of the major producers of cash and food crops in Nigeria which makes it relatively cheap for one to buy food crops such as beans, maize, groundnuts, rice, Bambaranuts, millet, Guinea Corn, Tomatoes and pepper through out the year. The Federal Government of Nigeria borrowed money from the world bank in 1976 to boost agriculture and only Gombe in the then Bauchi State and Funtua in the then Kaduna State were chosen as pilot projects in Nigeria. The choice of the Federal Government paid off, as today in Nigeria Gombe and Funtual are one of the major food Baskets of Nigeria. 5. As God has blessed Gombe State, it is a peaceful State and there is security of lives and properties. The incident of religious and ethnic disturbances is almost unheard of in the last eight years. The menace of armed robbery is rare. The menace of Kalare, the equivalent of Area Boys is now history. 6. Many potentials abound in the State which are yet to be exploited which I believe a Lagosian and other Nigerians and even foreigners could take advantage of. Apart from the goverrnment run Poultry Farm, there is no large scale Poultry farm in the whole State. Apart from the Government owned Fish Farm, there is no any Large Scale Fish Farm in the whole State. There is no large Scale Orchard farming despite the large land mass of the State. There is no large scale animal husbandry project in the whole State. Despite being one of the major producers of cotton in Nigeria, there is no single Textile Mill in the State. Infact there is no any Textile Factory in the whole of North Eastern Part of Nigeria despite being one of the Major producers of cotton in Nigeria. Only one oil proceesing company is in the State exist despite being of one of the major producers of Groundnut and cotton. No sinle Flour Mill is located in the State which is reputed as one of the major producer of maize, Guinea Corn and Millet in Nigeria. Infact I could not describe all the potentials of the State here but if any one is interested about a detailed study of the economic potentials of Gombe State or any State in Nigeria, I could be contacted at the following email addess: projects@acuitysolutions.biz 7. In terms of infrastructure, Gombe is doing well when one compares it with its contenporaries created at the same time. Road networks are constructed and rehabilitalted, new schools are constructed and while the old ones renovated. Electricity supply is relatively stable as being a Small State, the number of Hours Electricity is available in the State could only be rivaled by Abuja. Portable Water supply is availabe in the urban areas as the ambitious Gombe Regional Water Supply which supply water to Gombe town and the major towns and villages on the route of the pipeline gulped over 7.5 billion Naira. Boreholes and wells are currently being sunk and the old one being renovated. I am neither a politician and nor a Gombe State Government sponsored mouthpierce as all what I wrote above-could be independently confirmed by any one who visit the State. Gombe State is indeed 'A Jewel in the Savannah' if I were to reprase it, I would call Gombe State 'The Jewel of Nigeria' . How can one get a US visa from Lagos Nigeria?

Well, you would think it should be as straightforward as the US embassy website suggests it is, but the truth is that under the new online visa appointment system they advertise, there never seems to be an open visa appointment spot for the next 12 months. The embassy seems to release only a few of these per month. I have been checking their website for a visa for my Mom, for the last 3 months (24/7) along with my siblings from 3 time zones, but every time, we hit a brick wall. Now we were told by a friend of ours in Lagos, Nigeria, that you may only secure a visa appointment after paying undisclosed sums of money to middle men, who work unofficially or perhaps not, or on behalf of the embassy. Very sad indeed, but does seem to support the well known fact, that bribery is the way to obtain anything in Nigeria. Its unfortunate that the foreign embassies are caught in the same web.
