I use to have this problem all the time on my laptop. Eventually we had to switch providers. You can try making sure you are receiving a connection and then diagnose the connection. That should tell you what is wrong. Depending on what the answer is will determine what you need to fix. Try seeing if your IP address is still functioning. If you have another computer with internet access, you could probably go to your internet provider's website and get on a help chat desk to talk live with someone.

'Sonic Robo Blast 2' is indeed an excellent free game, and - luckily - one which is easy to get running on the Eeepc. I downloaded it this morning onto my Eeepc 701 SD (with standard Xandros OS), and so far it's working fine.

First, follow the instructions (VERY carefully) about pinning your system and adding extra repos available here:

Then download 'Wine' - a program which allows Windows programs to run in a Linux environment (yes, I know that SRB2 is available in a native Linux form, but for various reasons it would probably be easier/safer to just use the Windows version).

I'm running the standard Wine 1.0, and SRB2 works fine under it.

Finally, download the latest .exe file from 'www.srb2.org' (other sites offer the file for download, but they mostly have older and inferior versions).
Right-click on the .exe file and type 'wine' into the 'Open With' field.
Initially, I tried unpacking the file into the standard Linux 'Z: Drive', but experienced some major program issues. However, after removing and reinstalling it in Wine's virtual 'C: Drive' (as recommended in the above Wiki article), it now works fine.

There do seem to be some minor issues:
The music seems distorted, but can be safely turned off without detracting from the game's playability.
Every 30 seconds or so the frame-rate inexplicably drops off for a fraction of a second.
Once or twice their have been peculiar computer freezes while running the game.

However, these are minor issues that have yet to interfere with my enjoyment of Sonic Robo Blast 2.

Most likely you will damage the laptop screen itself if you slam it hard, not the laptop. An LCD panel is lit by a very thin, long, bright lamp. It is fragile, like any ordinary light bulb. If you put lots of pressure on the cover, the back light lamp will break. Depending on the laptop, it should be relatively easy to replace for $100-$200

Most HP models, like the HP Mini Netbook have built in wireless adapters, and if you go to the control panel, then at the bottom, to wireless network settings. Then give your network a name, leave the rest and click next. IF you have an external hard drive (flash drive) with a pre-existing network setup on it use it. No they don't sell laptops but you can rent them through CATS which is the university technology group for a few hours at a time for free. They will also fix your laptop if you break yours as well or get a virus on it.

This is too complicated 4 me... maybe i should stop answering random questions....

Unless you actually happen to have an Ethernet adapter lying around, there is no way to install it "for free."

what im asking iis that , the adapter would plug in and the console would be able to connect to the internet wherever you are. if this thing exists, what consoles are they for?

Yes, but it is not called WiFi. You are looking for wireless broadband such as EVDO, 3G or 4G provided by cellular carriers. This costs considerably more than WiFi (around $60/mo) and can be used with any computer that has a USB port, PCMCIA slot, ExpressCard slot or even WiFi.

This last option requires explanation. You use the WiFi in your computer to communicate with the a MiFi device (credit card sized device) that communicates over wireless broadband with your cellular provider.

There is also and internal, mini-card option for most laptops, but this would not be my recommendation for reasons of self-installation and the ability to use the other options on multiple computers.
