What kind of pain is associated with eyelift surgery?
Not only can we thank modern medicine for giving us the option of cosmetic surgery, but we can also give thanks for the many advancements in anesthesia. Gone are the days of painful surgeries. Because of the different options in anesthesia, your surgeon can decide what will be best for your procedure. Whether you will be treated using general anesthesia or a local anesthesia, you can rest assured that your eyelift surgery will produce very little pain. In fact, the most you should feel during the surgery is mild discomfort and some slightly irritating tugging and pulling. If you should experience pain during the procedure, you will need to speak up. This is a good indication that your anesthesia is not working. Your surgeon should be able to remedy this and proceed without further problems. An important thing to remember about anesthesia is that it is not only there to ensure your comfort. Anesthesia also keeps your body relaxed, allowing the surgery to proceed smoothly. Pain produces tension, which can alter your vital signs as well as tense your muscles, making your surgery more difficult. So don
Can you have lasik if you are farsighted?
Farsightedness is also called hyperopia, and this is a condition where the light rays are focused behind the eye, which results in blurred vision. Younger patients can "accommodate" or move their lens within the eye to overcome this problem and maintain sharp focus. As one gets older, they lose the ability to accommodate and thus need glasses for distance, and glasses for reading at an earlier age.
LASIK can reshape the eye and repair this problem. It is FDA approved for farsightedness with or without astigmatism in a large range of corrections. Many farsighted patients are extremely happy with LASIK results because of the help that they get at both distance and near. Some patients treated especially with older laser technologies, have experienced regression and lost some of the effect, so it is important to have a newer technology laser for this treatment.
This is not to be confused with presbyopia, which is where the lens loses its ability to focus and near vision become blurred while distance vision is clear. Many farsighted patients think that they have only presbyopia or "old eyes" but this is not necessarily true and in fact they may have some component which can be helped with LASIK surgery.

Your eyes are probably watering due to harsh environments, strong winds, rain, etc... But (like me) if you wear glasses or contact lens your eyes can easily be irritated Causing them to water. Now this is either caused by overusage or pushing on the contact against your eye causing it to bend and scrape against your eyeball. This will likely cause your eye to start watering trying to get the bent or dry contact lens out of your eye. If the lens was dirty however it can also irritate your eye that way because when you wear a dirty contact lens the minute dirt particles trapped between the lens and the contact are rubbing against your eye which will cause them to water excessively until all the dirt has been removed from in-between the lens and the eyeball. An easy way to quickly fix this problem is to use your saliva to clean your lens from the dirt DO NOT USE TAP WATER saliva is the next closest thing to saline(tears). If not done correctly your eyes will water excessively and it will look like you are crying but even if done so your eyes still have had damage done to them and your eyes will water this is caused by large dirt particles cutting your eyeball which will irritate the eye for a long time. One major thing to do is blink alot so the scrapes and cut will be covered in tears and will heal faster. Hope this helps with your problem!! :)

What body part does lasik surgery cut?
LASIK eye surgery is performed on the cornea, the clear covering of the outer part of the eye.
LASIK is the abbreviation of what?
LASIK is an acronym for Laser Assisted Stromal In-situ Keratomileusis which is a mouthful. The laser assisted is easy, stromal is the internal part of the cornea which is treated, in-situ means it is done right there as opposed to removing tissue and replacing it, and keratomileusis dates back to a much earlier procedure. In MKM which stands for myopic keratomileusis, the latter term refers to a reshaping of the cornea, originally coined by Jose Barraquer who was the father of refractive surgery and did this by removing the tissue before reshaping it. Thus the differentiation of the in-situ procedure.
Is anyone performing laser spine surgery in the kentucky area?
Yes, Kendall E. Hansen, M.D. is a doctor that works with spine surgeries.
Originally, LASIK was performed with the first step using a disposable razor blade to cut a thin layer of tissue on the front of the eye to make a flap which is folded back to allow the second step or excimer laser to treat the front of the eye.
The newer method of LASIK is called blade free because a second laser, a femtosecond laser is used to make the "flap" instead of a razor blade. The original laser for doing this procedure is made by a company called Intralase that was recently purchased by another eye company, AMO. More recently other companies offer femtosecond lasers with the most advanced model being offered by Carl Zeiss, the VisuMax. Another company making a product is called Femtec.
Overall it is somewhat surprising that still over half of all LASIK procedures are performed with the older "blade" method with the availability of the safer and more predictable blade free approach.
What lasik is better for a army pilot?
For the majority of people who are in the military there are two options. Traditional Laser-Assisted in situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) or Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK).
The short answer is PRK. The long answer follows:
LASIK is a procedure in which the cornea has a small flap cut into it using a blade called a microkeratome. The flap is then lifted, and a laser (The Excimer Laser) is used to shape the interior of the corneal flap. The advantages of LASIK are the reduced pain and healing time. The disadvantage of LASIK is that years down the road the flap may become dislodged, and you would lose your vision until the flap could be repositioned, and even then you may not be able to see clearly again.
PSK is a procedure in which the cornea has the epithelial layer scrubbed off, and then the laser reshapes the surface of the cornea. After the procedure you will be required to wear a contact lens bandage over your eyes, which will be removed 3-4 days later. There is more pain over the next few days as compared to LASIK, but there is no chance of a flap coming undone.
The U.S. Army's current policy is that Pilots must have PRK rather than LASIK.
