Lil was a puritanical woman who loved Louis very much despite his continual affairs with other women and pot smoking and those peccadillos were bones of contention with Lil. Louis was also not very businesslike,more or less in his early years just drifting along with virtually no direction and Lil was quite happy in those early days of their marriage to advise him and he, in turn, was happy to be advised by her. However, when Louis signed with the Joe Glazer agency, Lil was very unhappy because Joe had strong links with organized crime and was also a child molester and she had advised Louis not to sign with him. She also lost control of Louis' career because of this association which led to her moving back to Chicago, her city of residence, where she still had a wide following and living on her own. However, they still got together from time to, usually when Louis needed her advice on a musical project but Louis always had a woman in his life that would for ever prevent them from re-establishing the loving relationship that had once existed. So, eventually they divorced though much against Lil's wishes.
