Why have they given credit of flight of a bumble bee to the composer beethoven on sprints downloadable music?

If that is indeed the case (which I personally don't know), the explanation might be one of the following:

  • Ignorance. Some people vaguely believe that 'something' is true, and don't bother to do a bit of basic research to verify their belief.
  • Sloppiness. "The Flight of the Bumble Bee" might be taken from a collection of music by different composers, of whom Beethoven is the principal.
  • Mischief. Someone might have a strange sense of humour!

Is Pastoral an overture by Beethoven?

No, the "Pastoral" is the common nickname of Beethoven's Symphony #6 in F major. It is a full symphony, not an overture.

What is indicated by a WoO number in particular compositions by Beethoven?

WoO stands for "Werke ohne Opuszahl," which is German for "works without opus numbers." It's a system of organizing any pieces by Beethoven which were not published with an opus number.

Eroica symphony duration?

The duration has not been set by the composer. He has only given tempo indications. However at a performance the duration is controlled by the conductor and can vary anywhere from ca. 42 minutes (some of the "early music" conductors and Arturo Toscanini) to almost 55 minutes (for people like Wilhelm Furtwängler).

Was it Beethoven who drove his father nuts by coming home late and playing all but the last note of a song before going to bed so his father felt compelled to come down and hit that last note?

Never heard that story; it is quite amusing. My guess is that it is a myth. There is truth in the concept, though. In most of the traditional western musics, once a piece begins there is an arch of structure and tonality that leads to a final rest on the tonic. There is something unpleasant about deliberately not "getting to the point". This is in part what makes deceptive cadences so effective; we get something a little different from what our ears were expecting.

Did Beethoven grow an extra finger?

No, he did not. No one can "grow an extra finger." Some people are born with extra digits, though. Beethoven, however, was not born with extra digits.

http://www.answers.com/main/ntq-dsid-1648-dekey-wolfgangamadeusmozart aside, Ludwig van Beethoven is the most famous classical composer of the western world. Beethoven is remembered for his powerful and stormy compositions, and for continuing to compose and conduct even after he began to go deaf at age 28. The ominous four-note beginning to his Fifth Symphony -- bom bom bom bommmmm -- is one of the most famous moments in all of music. (Beethoven supposedly described the notes as "Fate knocking at the door.") He wrote nine numbered symphonies in all: his Third Symphony ("Eroica") and Sixth Symphony ("Pastoral") are especially famous. Beethoven also wrote the popular "Moonlight" sonata (1801).

Beethoven never married. After his death his friends found letters to a lover he called "Immortal Beloved," whose identity has never been discovered. The English phrase "Immortal Beloved" is a translation of the German, "Unsterbliche Geliebte"... Beethoven's precise date of birth is unknown; he was baptized on 17 December 1770, and it is presumed he was born on 16 December.

Where did beethoven learn his music?

he learned to play piano at home and sometimes at a teachers house.

His father taught him to play piano. And he lived with his father. So his house.

What is some information about the Eroica Symphony?

Beethoven's "Eroica" Symphony was written during his "Middle" period of composing, which began shortly after he was beset with deafness. Beethoven's music of this period developed towards large-scale works which expressed heroism and struggle, and included six symphonies, starting with the "Eroica", and including the expressive Fifth Symphony. The "Eroica" was written five years after Beethoven began to experience symptoms of the deafness that would eventually rob him of the ability to hear his own magnificent compositions.

Did Beethoven lose his hearing in early life or later life?

Beethoven began to lose his hearing around the middle of his life. Letters from Beethoven to his friends in 1801 indicate he had begun experiencing ringing (tinnitus) and deafness in his ears since about the age of 26 or 27.

By 1815 (age 44), his condition had become "intolerable" and he could no longer perform in public, though he could still compose.

It is well worth noting that the magnificent Symphony #9 was written by a man who had been totally deaf for years, and could only "hear in his imagination".

What is Beethoven Duo WoO 27?

Works Without Opus Number (Werke ohne Opuszahl, or WoO).

Which famous European composer was still composing music although deaf?

Beethoven (1770-1827) continued writing music even though he went deaf in ~1808.

Later on, the Czech composer Bedrich Smetana also went deaf, but he continued writing great pieces such as Die Moldau
