Madame Curie made two trips to America to receive a gram of radium each time, first from President Warren Harding and eight years later from President Herbert Hoover.

In 1923 the French government gave her a pension of 40,000 francs a year in recognition of her lifetime of work in France.

Aplastic anemia is a condition where bone marrow does not produce sufficient new red blood cells to replenish the blood. Marie Curie died in 1934, of what was described as an aplastic pernicious anaemia of rapid, feverish development. This was nearly identical a diagnosis given for the first reported radiation-related death of a radium dial painter. "Rapidly progressing anaemia of the pernicious type" (Martland 1925). It is argued that her death was not a result of Radium exposure because pernicious anaemia believed to be caused by radiation exposures. it is quite likely that her doctor had misdiagnosed her illness, Indeed, her daughter, Eve Curie, wrote (1937): "the abnormal symptoms, the blood tests, differing from those in any known case of pernicious anaemia, accused the true criminal: radium." Later, during the trial of Marie-Antoinette (after Louis XVI had already been executed), the boy was tortured and forced by the revolutionary authorities to testify during his mother's trial that she had sexually abused him.

Louis-Charles died in prison. Whether it was a deliberate murder or not is not known. He was a sickly child and could quite possibly have died in the unhygenic conditions of the prison and following his rough treatment. Of course it is also possible that the revolutionaries murdered him because in the eyes of monarchists he was now King Louis XVII, and the monarchists sought to restore him to the throne.

Marie-Thérèse, by contrast, survived the revolution. She was released from prison following the end of the Reign of Terror. She lived in exile through the reign of Napoleon to see her uncle Louis XVIII be restored as King of France in 1815, followed by her second uncle, Charles X. She married her cousin's son and became Duchess of Angoulême.

Finally her uncle Charles was deposed as king in 1830 and she moved into exile again. She finally died in 1851 at the age of 73.

She was born on the 6th of December, 1904 in Paris, France and died on the 22nd of October, 2007 in New York, United States.

Pierre Curie had dark hair which appeared to be a shade of brown or black.
