Marijuana - the Real Deal
Research on the long-term effects of marijuana abuse indicates some changes in the brain, similar to those seen after long-term abuse of other major drugs.
For example, cannabinoid withdrawal in chronically exposed animals leads to an increase in the activation of the stress-response system and changes in the activity of nerve cells containing dopamine. Dopamine neurons are involved in the regulation of motivation and reward, and are directly or indirectly affected by all drugs of abuse...
In simple terms, being a pothead and smoking up all the time can lead to long-term side-effects.
Long-term marijuana abuse can lead to addiction, i.e., compulsive drug-seeking and abuse despite its known harmful effects upon social functioning in the context of family, school, work, and recreational activities.
Long-term marijuana abusers trying to quit report irritability, sleeplessness, decreased appetite, anxiety, and drug craving, all of which make it difficult to quit. These withdrawal symptoms begin within about 1 day following abstinence, peak at 2-3 days, and subside within 1-2 weeks following drug cessation.
A number of studies have shown an association between chronic marijuana use and increased rates of anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and schizophrenia.
With marijuana (as with other drugs), proponents of its use site other studies and have contradictory opinions.
Contributors weigh in with the following:
Their conclusions: Marijuana use in a prepaid health care-based study cohort had little effect on non-AIDS mortality in men and on total mortality in women.
This is consistent with the results of the health studies of every major government commission report on the drug laws from around the world since 1894. These reports can be found at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer under Major Studies of Drugs and Drug Policy.
Isn't it odd that they can pit one side against the another about the use of marijuana or smoking a regular cigarette, but do little about alcohol. I actually phoned the Lung Assoc. in British Columbia and I taped it! Illegal yes, but it was too interesting to pass up. I acted like I was a non-smoker and asked them where they got their statistics from. This is exactly the quote I got, "Oh, they are actually guesstimates." I then phoned MADD (Mother's Against Drunk Drivers) and they had the exact statistics because they work with the police on deaths related to alcohol. Those statistics were far higher in death rates than smokers or marijuana users.
I fear if society or government interfere in some things (as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else) then they will rule over many things we do and it will be no longer a free democracy. Already it isn't and we are seeing changes in British Columbia at least. Now it's "we have to do something about over-weight kids" to "cigarettes" (again no word of alcohol) to what's next? If you are over-weight you don't get quality medical care and the same thing goes for marijuana or cigarette smokers. British Columbia has legalized marijuana in hopes it would stop grow-ops. It's the government's way of supposedly legalizing it for medicinal purposes for the sick and getting a big fat revenue out it. Grow-ops are popping up faster than new subdivisions and one only has to look at the news on TV to see this.
I am by no means saying smoking ANYTHING is good for a person, but neither is drinking!
This came directly from CNN.com :
LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Marijuana smoking does not increase a person's risk of developing lung cancer, according to the findings of a new study at the University of California Los Angeles that surprised even the researchers.
They had expected to find that a history of heavy marijuana use, like cigarette smoking, would increase the risk of cancer.
Instead, the study, which compared the lifestyles of 611 Los Angeles County lung cancer patients and 601 patients with head and neck cancers with those of 1,040 people without cancer, found no elevated cancer risk for even the heaviest pot smokers. It did find a 20-fold increased risk of lung cancer in people who smoked two or more packs of cigarettes a day.
The study results were presented in San Diego Tuesday at a meeting of the American Thoracic Society.
The study was confined to people under age 60 since baby boomers were the most likely age group to have long-term exposure to marijuana, said Dr. Donald Tashkin, senior researcher and professor at the UCLA School of Medicine.
The results should not be taken as a blank check to smoke pot, which has been associated with problems including cognitive impairment and chronic bronchitis, said Dr. John Hansen-Flaschen, chief of pulmonary and critical care at the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia. He was not involved in the study.
Previous studies showed marijuana tar contained about 50 percent more of the chemicals linked to lung cancer, compared with tobacco tar, Tashkin said. In addition, smoking a marijuana joint deposits four times more tar in the lungs than smoking an equivalent amount of tobacco.
"Marijuana is packed more loosely than tobacco, so there's less filtration through the rod of the cigarette, so more particles will be inhaled," Tashkin said in a statement. "And marijuana smokers typically smoke differently than tobacco smokers -- they hold their breath about four times longer, allowing more time for extra fine particles to deposit in the lung."
He theorized that tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, a chemical in marijuana smoke that produces its psychotropic effect, may encourage aging, damaged cells to die off before they become cancerous.
Hansen-Flaschen also cautioned a cancer-marijuana link could emerge as baby boomers age and there may be smaller population groups, based on genetics or other factors, still at risk for marijuana-related cancers.
Although there are some scientists that are for marijuana, they ALL conclude that marijuana can certainly cause anxiety issues eventually and also panic attacks.
There is no scientific evidence that marijuana slows down cancer cells. People with cancer are given marijuana to help with nausea, pain, and to help them relax.
Marijuana in moderate use is not harmful to you, but what is moderate? Some people smoke up every time they have a hint of 'not wanting to face up to reality.' Terrible way to go through life. Cigarette smokers light up because they feel it relaxes them, but contrary to this belief, it actually pumps you up more (all in your mind) as does alcohol.
Could marijuana or ecstasy use affect pregnancy symptoms?
If you are pregnant you should not be using Marijuana or Ecstacy. The use of marijuana and ecstacy is ridiculous if you are pregnant or not. The birth defects and harm to the baby cannot be excused because a person wanted to reduce their pregnancy symptoms.
^another thing to add is that ecstasy use dramatically increases heart rate in both the mother and baby and the mother could easily abort the baby or it will be born with serious heart defects.
Is alcohol or marijuana more damaging to the overall body and why?
Alcohol wins all the prizes for damage to the body over marijuana by a huge margin.
For number of people killed outright by the drug, alcohol leads with about 100,000 deaths per year, compared to no recorded deaths in history for marijuana. See How many people are killed by drugs?
http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/library/basicfax3.htm
Every major government commission report in the last 100 years has concluded that alcohol and tobacco are both more dangerous than marijuana. See Major Studies of Drugs and Drug Policy - http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/Library/studies/studies.htm
The World Health Organization studied the issues specifically and found that both alcohol and tobacco are far more dangerous to the health in every respect than marijuana. See A Comparative Appraisal of the Health and Psychological Consequences of Alcohol, Cannabis, Nicotine and Opiate Use - http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/hemp/general/who-index.htm
It really depends on how you use it. One glass of wine a week, a beer with dinner or a shot to get you asleep are all far better than getting completely stoned and losing your job because of it. However by the same token marijuana can calm down a person with anxiety disorders, relieve the pain of a long-term cancer or arthritis patient and many other things and these effects are far more useful than sculling alcohol until you pass out and get liver and brain damage, or by smoking a pack a day before dying age 40 of lung cancer.
Each has its positives and its negatives, and it is people that makes each good or bad, not the drug itself - citing reports on marijuana use and comparing it to alcohol and tobacco is pointless, since so many people can and do use the latter while the former is underreoprted and very biased.
Why do guys who smoke marijuana and drink like to date girls who smoke marijuana and drink?
Because they need a common activity.
AnswerBecause most people who don't smoke wouldn't want to kiss someone who does smoke. same with those who don't like the taste of alcohol, a non drinker/smoker wouldn't want to be with someone who does drink/smoke so the person who does those activities has to find someone who does them too since they don't mind the taste or smell of the other person. also people who smoke weed or drink are more chill about life while others arent, so their morals and interests are the same, which equals more compatibility between the two.Answer
Because a couple would rather sit around smoking a blunt then doing something with a non-smoker.
Answer
Third answer is win. It all has to do with common interests, same with anything.
Who decided marijuana was illegal?
The government outlawed hemp back in the early days. Not because it was considered a drug. But because hemp is a cheaper and better way to produce paper, rope, and multiple other things. Hemp would have made the paper industry go out of business. So with that being the case, hemp was outlawed. The American Flag made by Betsy Ross was actually made with hemp materials.
==========
Unfortunately nearly all of the above answer (aside from the statement that "the government outlawed hemp back in the early days) is often repeated urban folklore. I left it intact to avoid claims of censorship.
Marijuana was declared illegal fairly recently. If you go back further it was regulated as a drug. Hemp was, of course, mostly grown for the fibers for rope and fabric early on. The first regulation of cannabis (marijuana) was for its use in medicines. Those laws first started appearing on in the USA around the mid 1800's. Note that at that time a large fraction of the paper being produced was made from hemp and other fibrous plants rather than wood pulp. Nearly all paper was made from recycled fibers from used textiles, i.e. rags, which were mostly linen, hemp, and cotton. The paper was rougher but more durable than most of the paper we use now. Production of paper shifted from recycled fibers (including hemp) to wood pulp in the early 1900's because with newly developed industrial processes it was cheaper to process trees for pulp than to collect and recycle rags and trees were more plentiful - it was NOT a matter of hemp hurting the use of wood for paper; paper from wood pulp beat hemp based paper in the economic competition well before marijuana was made illegal. Even after a working version of a decorticator for hemp reduced the labor costs of producing fiber from hemp, it still couldn't compete financially with wood pulp for paper.
Yellow journalism in the late 1800s in the papers published by Randolph Hearst cemented the idea of marijuana as a "demon weed" linked to violence in the minds of much of the public. Even then it was regulated as a drug. It first became essentially illegal in in the USA in 1937 when the "Marihuana Tax Act of 1937" (yeah - that's the way they spelled it) was passed. The act made it illegal except for medical and industrial uses and set a hefty tax on those uses. In the USA the Boggs Act of 1953 stepped up the penalties. It was made flat out illegal in the USA except for research when it was placed on the list of "Schedule I Controlled Substances" by the 1970 Controlled Substances Act. Other countries followed a similar progression of regulation to making it illegal with roughly the same timeline and the same rationale.
Typically, that kind of test is only used to determine whether Strep is present and they won't bother with the other tests. It's possible that they could test for the presence of THC but if nobody is paying for the test, it won't happen.
Will the wheezing caused by smoking marijuana disappear after quitting?
Answer: It sounds like you are allergic to the smoke and this has irritated your airways. If you are Asthmatic then this is why you're wheezing. Smoke WILL irritate and imflame your airways. See your doctor and get checked for asthma. Not everyone Wheezes after smoking. You may be allergic to smoke or something "in" what you are smoking While allergic reactions to Marijuana smoke and cigarette smoke can well be an allergy, generally a long-time smoker or heavy smoker can get wheezing because the chemicals in both are irritants to the tissues in the throat, sinus' and lungs, so yes, if you quit smoking you'll quit wheezing.
What is the quickest way to get marijuana out of your system?
Go to a Head Shop, they sell this stuff you can drink before the test. It costs like 35-50 dollars though.
Concentrated "essence of cannabis". Hash (or hashish) in my language (Arabic) means grass.... grass is another word pot, weed, marijuana, cannabis. It also can be the mark #. #=hash.
What are the legal ramifications of marijuana?
The laws of possession, sale, consumption and cultivation of the Cannabis plant (Marijuana) vary from state to state, and from nation to nation. Some nations or states may allow private use, but not sale. Some may also impose jail time, a fine, and in some countries even the death penalty. In the U.S. many states are beginning to allow private use of marijuana, mainly because of the fact that labeling someone a criminal for using marijuana does not make them use less, but in fact use more. For more information on your states laws, please go to www.norml.org.
How long does it take for a marijuana plant to grow outside?
The time a marijuana plant takes to grow is dependent on many things. To generally answer this question a marijuana plant will grow through out the entire growing season of where you grow it. the growing season usually lasts between 5-9 months in the northern hemisphere. that being said, you can plant the seed or clone out doors any time into the growing season as long as you allow enough time for veg before the autumn days shorten forcing the plant into a reproductive state, (male balls form or female buds grow).
Will you pass a hair follicle test if you have used cocaine one time in the past 12 months?
12 months it should be out of your system
The above statement is correct, however one would need more information to better answer the question. First of all, drug metabolites are present in your hair forever, they do not just disappear. By law, drug testing labs are only permitted to go back 90 days when performing a hair test and only use the first 1.5 inches of hair. With that being said, we would need to know when the last time of usage was in relation to the upcoming test. If you used cocaine within the 90 day window before your test, then you will fail it, no questions asked. Even a VERY small amount of usage (a milligram) will cause you to fail as the test records the amount of drug metabolites in parts per million present in the inner cortex of hair and the cutoff threshold for cocaine is extreme low. For example, I know someone who failed the test after doing a key bump 2.5 months before the test. Just because your urine is clean DOES NOT mean that the drug metabolites have left your hair.
If you have not used in the last 90 days then I would suggest cutting your hair down to 1 inch to 1.5 inches in order to remove any evidence of use. If you HAVE used in the past 90 days and the test is within a month then you are going to fail miserably unless you find a way to remove the metabolites from your hair (which is possible if you search online) but DO NOT rely on the hair follicle shampoos advertised online and/or at head shops. Some of them may work when combined with other methods but the failure rate of these products alone is much higher than the success rate. My best advice would be to do some research online by going to member forums on sites like grasscity and marijuana dot com. Take an at-home urine test (buy one at your local pharmacy) and test yourself to see if your urine is clean of all substances. If it is then this generally means that the metabolites are no longer present in the new hair growth (still present in the older section of the same hair strand.) Good luck.
How does marijuana effect you life spiritual life and your family sybolings?
Small amounts of Marijuana never hurt anyone. Some of my friends in the past (when younger) would have a joint or two instead of alcohol because they got hang-overs from alcohol, but that's the only time they smoked it. If a person is a "pot head" in other words can't get it together (in their mind) without several tokes or joints of Marijuana (or the Marijuana bud in a regular cigarette) then they have a problem. Heavy users of Marijuana can experience depression, anxiety issues and panic attacks as well as lethargy. It is also hard on the lungs and heart. It can change the personality of the person dramatically and cause friction in the family, with friends or with mates. If you are older then you should be setting an example for your siblings, not letting them know over-use of Marijuana is a good thing. In fact, not using Marijuana at all is even better. If you are a younger sibling and heavy on the Marijuana this can change your moods, and by this you could be causing arguments or tension in the family. No one is happy then including yourself.
What are the long term effects of marijuana use?
These symptoms occur in fewer individuals:
It depends on the person, I have some friends from college who are heavy marijuana users and has definitely made them"slower" - At the same time, I graduated pre-med with a heavy user who is as sharp as a tack- It enhances your personal characteristics- he's now a well known doctor, if you are a stupid lazy bum you will be a stupider lazier bum over time- if you are intelligent and use it to relax and accommodate your needs you should be doing great!
Societal effects?Fines and jail time varies from region to region.Marijuana has an active substance called tetra-hydro-cannabinol (THC) that gives the user the "high" associated with marijuana. Without this substance, marijuana would do nothing to the user. Marijuana is considered a drug because THC induces altered states of consciousness, like alcohol or caffiene, or cocaine. For a substance to be considered a drug it must have a direct effect on one of the systems within your body. Marijuana affects the central nervous system, which is made up primarily of the brain and an intricate network of nerves that run throughout your body. Marijuana is also considered a drug because the FDA and the federal government do not want you using it.
When drug testing can you fail it by breaking up marijuana?
usually people break up "weed" any way to smoke it. the best way to "get a good grade" on a drug test is not to take a drug at all..... nowadays you cannot even use someone elses pee because there is a certain temperature reading on the cup that you pee in. JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS :) No. You will fail any drug test. Especially hair tests and pee tests. There is no coverup drug or solution since the tests these days look for certain substances that mask other drugs as well. Down with Dope, Up with Hope. ha. Corny I know, but my public service message of the day.
What is the difference between marijuana and catnip?
There is no relationship between them at all. They are two different plants.
How long does it take marijuana to leave your system?
4 days ,sure, if u follow my diet.
breakfast : dried cranberries and fiber one yogurt/granola/ steamed asparagus extra salt/ green tea
lunch : any pasta with asparagus softly boiled and fresh ginger/
dessert any cranberry dessert with cranberry juice + 1 redbull
dinner :steak and asparagus/ grilled no oil no butter extra salt.
no fat=no THC stored
exercise and only sleep 3 hours a day.(diverted metabolism)
it works.
Cannabis in its most familiar form is marijuana. "Marijuana" is derived from the Mexican word maraguanquo which means "intoxicating plant". Some people site historical information in which the name was used to create an "evil" or "unpatrioitc" image for use of cannabis or other THC containing compounds .I'd like more details about this "mexican" word. First of all, in Mexico they speak CASTELLANO, not mexican. the word maraguanquo, MUST have an indian root, to say that is a mexican word, just shows lack of knowledge.
There is no Indian root but Greek. Castellano can refer to the Romance language that originated in Castile, and is spoken in much of Spain and the Americas; it is usually called Spanish, sometimes Castilian, in English.
How does the sperm affect an unborn baby if the dad smokes marijuana?
The usage of Marijuana temporarily restricts a man's ability to create sperm. A man who smokes Marijuana would be less likely to conceive a child than a man who didn't but once a child was concieved it wouldn't be affected by the marijuana.
Marajuana does not restrict the mans ability to create sperm. where are you getting your sources?
I know many men who smoke all day everyday and they have children and have recently gotten there wives pregnant.
What do you do to get the mariguana out of your urine quick?
Drink alot of water every time you smoke more it doubles if your system is clean it is about 3-4 days it may double every time you smoke more. first 3-4 second 6-8 third 12-16 and so on .....
Can marijuana make you depressed?
While marijuana can have temporary mood-altering effects, long-term or heavy use could potentially contribute to feelings of depression in some individuals. It's important to consult with a healthcare professional if you are experiencing symptoms of depression or if you have concerns about the impact of marijuana on your mental health.
What is the strongest marijuana?
Saying "White Widow" is not being very specific given that there are roughly thirty strains of cannabis all from different breeders that are all genetically different from each other and also different from the original but still are called White Widow. The original White Widow was renamed Black Widow a number of years back now. Anything that carries the name of White Widow is a fugazi, a fake, a phoney, a knockoff or at the very best an F2. Black Widow (the original White Widow) was a creation of Shantibaba, the owner of Mr. Nice Seeds, back when Shantibaba was part owner of Green House Seeds. Black Widow is true quality and it is potent, but it is not one of the strains with the highest level of THC available today. If someone can find a cutting of a pre-98 Bubba Kush they will have something that is good, but again it is not going to test out as being the most potent cannabis available today. Any that is not pre-98 will not be close to being the most potent. While there are not as many different Purple Haze varieties as there are White Widow varieties you still will find genetically different versions of Purple Haze from different breeders. Some are good, but none will rank on the top of the list of high THC strains. Also, there are different methods of testing for THC used by different laboratories and samples of the same strain taken from the same buds from the same plants could test out 5% higher or lower, and more, depending on what test procedure is used. Because of that it is almost impossible to accurately say what strain has the highest level of THC. Plus, since a high comes from not only THC or only cannabinoids but also terpenoids and all being in optimal percentages to work with and enhance each other rather than working against each other a strain with a lower percentage of THC than others could give a stronger more potent high if along with the percentage of THC the other cannabinoids and the terpenoids are in better percentages.
White widow, Bubba Kush, Purple Haze. Or if you lace it with something.
I do not believe the information about Green Bud is accurate. The breeder does not even claim a THC level of 76%, there is no THC level claim made at all ... that is unless it the one mentioned is another Green Bud from a different breeder. If so, who is the breeder of the Green Bud that is supposed to have such a high THC level?

Answer
I would say the strongest weed I've smoked and did a little research on would be Super Silver Haze
First place winner of three consecutive High Times Cannabis Cups for the hydro category (1997, 1998, 1999), Super Silver Haze also claimed first prize in the High Times Grand Cup in 1998.
Super Silver Haze was a creation of Nevil and Shantibaba and they are as good as breeders can get, but if you are going to rely on number of Cup wins as validation of potency then you might want to consider some of the strains that have won 7 Cup or 10 Cups or 15 various Cups over the years.
Nevil and Shantibaba do not even give a THC percentage for Super Silver Haze on Mr. Nice Seeds strain selection page for Super Silver Haze so it's rather difficult to claim it to be of higher potency than strains that do list tested THC levels.
While Barney's Farm Tangerine Dream is a bit on the unstable side it has been tested to have a minimum level of THC of 25% and Sannie's Seeds Herijuana has tested up to 25%.
I am as big of a fan of Nevil and Shantibaba's work as anyone but Super Silver Haze I am highly confident that Super Silver Haze is not near 25% in THC.
When finished and released Nevil's Ultimate Haze, that he wants to use the word Grail in the name when released, might be 25% or higher in THC, but we will have to wait to find out.
There are a couple...
"Kush" is a type of marijuana that comes in many many strains and can be indica or sativa (but let's face it, mostly sativa - very cerebral high !) and with varying potencies of THC content [ive literally smoked lemon kush that had a THC content of 32% !!!] any Kush grown properly is sure to get you ripped.
OG Kush, Master Kush, lemon kush, grapefruit kush, orange kush, bubble kush, BC (british Columbia) kush, purple kush, afgahn and Hindu kush are just a few. You will always know its kush because it has a distict taste and the smell, most importantly - the high will mess you up hahah.
Other than that,
White widow
Ak-47
Northern lights
Jack Herer
Big bud
jamaican pearl
skunk #1
super lemon haze (cannabis cup winner 08', 09')
morning glory
sweet tooth
great white shark
purple haze
hawiian haze
silver haze
Anything with haze in it is generally amazing stuff. (I know a guy who knows a guy that is working on "hoser haze" specifically grown through as many variations it takes to get a winner from the contributing BC kush, super lemon haze, and morning glory strains; he's trying to get the sativa/indica ratio to 65/35 for an epic All-Canadian bud)
Right now Im blown away by this new "cottoncandy" bud, its a cross between afghani and blueberry seedlines, mostly indica - and its a one hit wonder. I packed a regular sized bowl for a teenager who burns through a half ounce per week in my bong and i was finished,- like legally retared stoned ! I would nominate that for the cannabis cup this November. So look out for that strain.
Im speaking in Canada so the weed is always A+ and we rarely pay gram for gram prices, nice and worth it up here lol.
finally, if you 'age' cannabis it will increase the potency of what ur inhaling i.e. put that bud in a glass jar or baggie that's air tight and then get other weed to smoke and forget about the aging bud so you can have it for a rainy day. Its similar to hash lol, could give a detailed answer but its almost 4am and I have to get high before bed so peace,, hope that helped.
The reason anything with Haze in it, well anything well bred with Haze in it, is Haze, true Haze is made up of three pure sativa strains, one from Mexico, one from Colombia, one from Thailand and some years later one from India was bred into it making it a combination of four sativa strains. As "Joe Haze," as one of the "Haze Brothers" who created Haze in the late 60's said originally there were four phenotypes nicknamed Gold, Silver, Purple, and Blue. Despite it's intense high Haze remained pretty much unknown other than those in California area it was created and then it did spread up and down the West Coast some but not until the late 1970s, when famed breeder Sam Skunkman started creating and refining his own batches. By 1984, he had taken them to Holland and started selling them under his Sacred Seeds moniker did it become known to the entire world. For various reasons Original Haze earned a reputation as a finicky, difficult plant to grow.
In the 1980s, the legendary seed producer Nevil Schoenmakers bought a selection of beans from a connoisseur in New York that included the Haze Brothers' Original Haze. After he took those seeds to Amsterdam and embarked on a breeding project to stabilize them, Schoenmakers released Nevil's Haze to the general cannabis-smoking public, and everything changed. As marijuana historian Mr. Haze 420 said to me, "Nevil's Haze is some of the most powerful sativa I've ever smoked." (That was said in 2013)
An earlier message said "Kush" is a type of marijuana that comes in many many strains and can be indica or sativa (but let's face it, mostly sativa - very cerebral high !)" That is incorrect. A true Kush is a pure indica. It originated in the Hindu - Kush mountains in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It has been crossed with various sativa strains and sativa crosses but those are not true Kush strains.
In the last message where it said "finally, if you 'age' cannabis it will increase the potency of what ur inhaling" that is incorrect. Increased potency would equate to increased levels of THC and that does not happen once a plant has been harvested.
Newly harvested cannabis contains cannabinoids that are in an acidic form, THCA, CBDA, CBNA etc. and THCA is not very psychoactive. What needs to occur is called decarboxylation, the carboxyl group is released from the molecule as carbon dioxide and water vapor changing the THCA into THC, and CBDA into CBD and CBNA into CBN.
This process will occur VERY SLOWLY over time if freshly harvested cannabis is properly dried and then properly jarred and properly stored. But full decarboxylation will occur rapidly when heated. When marijuana is smoked, the THC behind the hot spot is vaporized as the hot air from the burn is drawn through the joint or pipe bowl to the unburned material. The liquid THC and other cannabinoids have a boiling point of between 180-200 C (355-392 F). Before they turn gaseous, at around 106 C (220 F), the carboxyl group is released from the molecule as carbon dioxide and water vapor. At that point you have full potency, all THCA, CBDA and CBNA have become THC, CBD and CBN.
But that does not increase the actual percentage of THC. When cannabis is tested and said to be some certain percent THC that is a combination of both THC and THCA since it is known that when smoked or vaporized or heated to make edibles decarboxylation will occur and what will be inhales or consumed will be fully active THC, but the actual THC percentage or level or strength or potency will not have increased over what it was when freshly harvested.
What you actually gain the most through proper curing is the changes that occur to terpenoids and flavanoids. The result will be a smoother smoke, a more flavorful smoke and a more aromatic smoke.
The curing increases potency myth is one of a near endless list of myths and fallacies and misunderstandings and half truths and misconceptions and urban legends and inaccurate old hippie folklore that flood each and every online 'grow site' and are passed on to each 'new crop' of growers and since it was read on a 'grow site' they consider it to be factual, to be as true as if carved in stone and handed down from the mountaintops. But most of what someone 'learns' on 'grow sites' is inaccurate. I have been a member of almost every single 'grow site' that has existed since the days of the original CannabisWorld and Overgrow and been a mod on a number of them and an admin on one so I am very familiar with what is 'taught' on such sites. I have also toked since 1968 and grown since 1972 and have over the years studied a great deal of botany and horticulture along with cannabis specific research and in all honesty I can say if anyone wants to learn how to grow cannabis they should avoid each and every 'grow site' and instead purchase several good books on botany and horticulture and also two of three of the top rated 'how to grow books' and learn what you need from them and avoid being taught all the myths and fallacies and misunderstandings and half truths and misconceptions and urban legends and inaccurate old hippie folklore that is pawned off as being 'growing knowledge' on 'grow sites.'
As for Cotton Candy, there might be a new strain/form of it out but Cotton Candy itself is anything but new. It was rather popular for a short while in the late 90's and maybe even until around 2001.
