I have a Marlin 1893 in .30 WCF (30-30) I inherited it. I brought it to my local gunsmith, for some person in the past had removed the iron sights..I wanted them replaced with original stuff if possible. He told me that after the gum was complete it would fetch 850-1000 dollars for the Marlins are much rarer than the Winchester levers of that era.

From what I have read yes these statements are true.marlin has moved into a brand new factory and has installed brand new equipment and CNC machines to be cost effective in todays market.The many employes with many years of service retired and there knowledge was lost.Marlin is attempting to make the best selling models first with others coming on-line as tooling becomes installed.Unfortunately the new employes are learning as they go,so give marlin some time to fix there problems.

If it is a 36 and not a 336 that means it was made before 1949. The value of course depends on the condition. I paid 250 for a 36 that was in good condition but it does look well used. I saw one right next to it on the rack that was exactly the same riffle but that did not look as worn that was priced at 450.
