I fyour model 39 has a K prefix and a 24in barrel with the slender forearm it was made in 1953.If it has no prefix to the serial number and straight grip stock similar to the original model 39 it was made from 1953-1972.

your marlin model 62 levermatic was only made from 1963-1969.It was also available in 256 win mag.I am sorry but I do not have the total production fiqures.

the E prefix dates your marlin model 336 to 1948. the a j letters could be someones initials but have no meaning to the age of the rifle.

I THINK you have a Marlin Model 60, made for JC Penney as their Mdel 6660. You can download an owner's manual from Marlin, customer service, use the Model 60 tab. You can also check the website at gunpartscorp, again use marlin Model 60.

you should not use 32 Winchester special ammo in a 32-40 rifle! these are two complete different cartridges and you may injure yourself,and blow up a otherwise fine old marlin rifle.one of the major manufactures still load 32-40 ammo from time to time.check with Winchester,Remington or federal.There is also some small company,s that make hard to find ammo which the 32-40 is becoming,so look to the internet for your ammo.

I used to have one of these. It's the bolt-action shotgun with a really long barrel, cheap plain-looking wooden stock, and it uses a 2-round magazine so the total ammo capacity with one in the chamber is 3 shots?

I figured mine was worth $100 if I sold it to another willing (but not desperate) private individual like myself. That's with the magazine. A lot of these shotguns are found in pawn shops and flea markets missing the magazine, but I assume you can get a replacement mag for maybe $25.

It's not a collector's item. A hunter on a really tight budget might want it for ducks, geese, or maybe even turkeys. Big birds that are often shot at fairly long distances like 20-40 yards. I would also market it to a deer hunter that has a stand or blind over some thick woods, where the shot is likely to be 10-30 yards.

There does NOT appear to be any current major producers offering a lever action rifle/carbine chambered for the .41 Magnum cartridge. There may be some custom made guns, finding a custom rifle gunsmith will require internet research.

In general, buy a .22 caliber cleaning kit (bore rod, bore brush, patch holder, patches, powder solvent, oil) and follow the instructions. Gun shops and most department stores will have a basic cleaning kit. ALWAYS be sure that a firearm is unloaded. Avoid overcleaning, over oiling, and taking things apart that you do not know how to reassemble unless you have a large vocabulary of curse words.
