You have a Marlin model 1896 slide action shotgun, however, it is a Blackpowder shotgun and you will need brass hulls.

It really depends on the Manufacturer, what model gun, and if it is used or brand new from a store or from the Manufacturer.

Look at prices online prior to buying a gun. If you have a gun and wish to sell it, I might recommend taking it to a pawn shop and have it valued. Or you could even just take the highest offer you can get.

I'm not sure when they run for south of the border, but I've seen a few floating around here in Canada for between $150-200 depending on condition.

I recently had the same problem with my 30.30 lever action. I found on mine that the problem was in the loading door where you put the bullets in. I loosened the straight screw that holds door on allowing the action to free up.The screw over time becomes loose allowing the gun to jam while working the action . I now check this screw often. Hope this information helps.

I believe you have a Mossberg model 400 Palomino. It a .22 lever action tubular magazine walnut stock made 1959-64.. Around $100 in good condition.

Serial numbers were not required until 1968.

Remove the trigger assembly. It should only be 3 screws. The serial number is located on the bottom of that plate. (At least it is on my model 99 m1)

Had if for a year, only time it ever jammed is because of the ammo. But there's always 3 or 5 defective ones in every 200rd box.

it was made from 1960-69 with a 24 inch barrel.

The letter J in the serial number would designate a 1952 date of manufacture.
