What is the easiest way to convert within the metric system?
Well, the easiest way is to type it into Google. You heard right, type it into Google. Google has a really neat feature that is part of their search engine that allows one to quickly and naturally convert from one unit to another (as long as they are compatible, i.e. unit of weight converted to another unit of weight).
Heres how you do it:
Just type: "<what ever you want converted>" to "<what unit you want to end up with>"
into Google.
Try it now! Type 2000 lbs to kg and magically Google gives you an answer! It will even do the silliest things (as long as the units are convertible). Try this one: <one weber per meter squared in kilowebers per square mile>. Or this one: <1000 kilometers per fortnight in feet per second>. It's crazy!
My favorite is converting every distance into smoots. Using an online calculator is fine but won't always be available and it won't help you understand the process. Here is how to understand the whole issue of unit conversions: 1) Make sure the units are really convertible. This should go without saying, but one frequently finds someone asking--how many inches in a kilogram....etc. 2) Understand that ANY number or fraction can be multiplied or divided by 1 or 1/1 or 16 Oz/1 lb or 2.2 lbs/1 kg or any ratio where the top is one thing and the bottom is an equivalent, without changing it. We use a ratio sign ":" which should not cause a problem. So for practice let's figure out how many smoots (67 inches) are in a micrometer (a millionth of a meter...um): You may have to puzzle out the formatting here, but these are basically three unit ratios. I use "um" to mean micrometers So by simple cancellation we get A little calculator math will get you a smoot /1.7 x 106 micrometers. Remember this means that a smoot = 1.7 106 micrometers
Do people in Nigeria use metric system?
Yes. People all over the world (except USA, Burma and Liberia) use decimalised system of measurement.
How did the metric system get its abbreviation?
The abbreviation "SI" comes from the French phrase "Système International d'Unités," which means "International System of Units." The metric system was formally adopted in 1960 by the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM), an international organization responsible for the uniformity of measurements.
What measures the amount of time between Memorial Day and Fourth of July in the metric system?
The only element of time defined in the metric system is the second. Which is defined as 'a certain number of ... ... .' [Never mind the recipe.]
You may still use days, hours, minutes and so on in the metric system.
Was the metric system created in France?
Yes, the metric system was created in France during the French Revolution in the late 18th century. It was developed to standardize measurements and promote decimal-based units of measurement.
What tools measure inches centimeter meters yards?
Some tools used to measure inches include rulers and tape measures. Centimeters can be measured using rulers and tape measures as well. Meters can be measured using meter sticks, measuring tapes, or measuring wheels. Yards are typically measured using yardsticks, tape measures with yard markings, or measuring wheels with yard measurements.
these both are different units of measurements.
so,no conversion can take place.
How is the metric system used in everyday life?
In real life, the metric system is used universally in scientific work all over the world.
It is also used to talk about length, width, height, area, volume, mass, weight, distance,
temperature, and speed, by common ordinary people in their everyday real life and work
all over the world, except in Liberia, Burma, and the USA.
What is si unit of uniform acceleration?
The SI unit for acceleration is the meter per second squared (m/s 2).
What is 400 meters compared to miles?
400 meters = 0.248548477 miles.
(One meter = 0.000621371192 miles)
How many meters in one box of solid wire?
It depends on the length of the wire. Typically, a box of solid wire contains a specified length of wire, such as 100 meters or 500 meters. You need to check the product specifications or labeling on the box to determine the exact length of wire it contains.
What advantage does the country who does not use the metric system have?
The country that does not use the metric system has the advantage that its old equipment continues to work. Its old measuring system continues to work. It does not need to make changes to sell in its own markets.
The Metric system is just over 200 years old. I hope that is what you were looking for:) by the way that i smiley
How many liters in 64 ounces of water?
Assuming the water is measured in US fluid ounces, convert the units to liters as follows:
64 fl. oz H2O * 0.0295735296 L/fl. oz = 1.9 L H2O
Then, using the density of water, 1 g/cm^3, and the fact that 1 mL = 1 cm^3 we can find:
1.9 L H2O * 1000 mL/L * 1 cm^3/mL * 1 g/cm^3 = 1900 g H2O
Making the final conversion using the molar mass of H2O, 33.008 g/mol:
1900 g H2O * 1 mol/ 33.008 g = 58 mol H2O
1 mole is equal to Avagadro's number (6.0221415*10^23) of molecules. So 58 moles is equal to
58 * (6.0221415*10^23) = 3.49284207 *10^25 molecules
What quantity is represented by the metric system prefix deci 100?
'deci' means one tenth of (1/10). For example 'decilitre' (1/10 Litre), 'decimetre' (1/10 metre), decigram. etc.
It is not a commonly used prefix, centi- and millli- are more common, for example, 1 dm = 10 cm = 100 mm
How many ounces is 0.7 liters of motor oil?
0.7 liters of motor oil is equal to approximately 23.67 fluid ounces.
What is the base unit of measure for the metric system?
the international system of units or SI units have 7 base units for the measurement of different types of quantities.
it uses the following units:
meter - length
kilogram - mass
second - time
kelvin - temperature
ampere - current
candela - luminous intensity
mole - amount of substance
What is the shape of metric system?
The metric system is based on multiples of ten, making it a decimal system. This means that units are related by powers of 10, making conversions between different units easy and efficient. The standard units in the metric system include meters for length, grams for mass, and liters for volume.
What is the SI unit for suction?
I guess that would be measured in units of pressure: Pascal = Newton/meter2.
System of measurement considered more convenient to use.why?
The metric system is considered more convenient to use because it is based on powers of 10, which allows for easy conversions between units. It is also used worldwide, making it consistent across different countries and industries. Additionally, the metric system is simpler and more logical compared to other systems of measurement.
How is the metric system used in the medical field?
It's used by physicians, internists, surgeons, ophthalmologists, researchers, anesthesiologists, chiropractors, nurses, hospice workers, and physical and psychological therapists, to measure, express, and communicate the magnitude of forces, lengths, areas, speeds, capacities, and volumes, and the
duration of periods of time.
Look at the metric ruler pictured. Assuming that 0 is visible on the measure and is also the starting point, what is the distance to point D?
