Metric System

The units of length on a ruler are typically in inches and centimeters. Each inch is divided into smaller units, such as eighths or sixteenths, while centimeters are divided into smaller units called millimeters.

There are 1609.344 meters in one mile. Therefore to convert meters to miles, value in meters has to be divided by amount of meters in one mile:

The unit for volume in the SI is the cubic metre. The normal prefixes get a little confused because of the cubing.
