Unfortunately, you cannot. Tracfone disables any unlocking of any of their SIM cards of any kind on any network, and you may or may not be penalized if you try. I suggest you unlock the Iphone 2G with T-Mobile, if you want lower-price service. I've heard THAT unlocking process is possible.

Yes, 3G means 3rd generation. As mobile technology advances, new generations of networking speeds are "officially" released, but you can still use them in older phones, or "2G" phones.

The only difference is that if you use the internet on the phone in question the internet loading speed won't be as fast, but that's only because of the phone's processer.

I presume you are referring to 4th generation mobile networks. They are faster than 3G (and Edge and everything else). So if your phone is 4G-enabled and you are on a 4G network, you will get much faster internet, as well as clearer and more reliable phone calls.
