You only take morphine if your doctor has prescribed it, and then exactly as prescribed. Morphine is extremely dangerous and WILL kill you if you take it wrong. I've lost several patients to morphine overdose, so don't play around with it.

not enough information. is it oral or injectable? how long has the patient been on the morphine? what is the reason for using it? operation or cancer or pain control? too many variables you need to elaborate

All I can say is that it made me extremely sick. Like, scary sick. I had never taken it before and I decided to take 60mg on the spot. Not my smartest move. Anyways, I took it and decided to take a nap. When I woke up my stomach hurt EXTREMELY bad. So I decided to go make something to eat (thinking food might help) on my way to the kitchen I passed out and hit my head. Throwing up in the process. My dad rushed in the room and I was forced to tell him what I did. Worst experience of my life.

Nothing is bad for you if used correctly. Morphine, if used frequently and in large amounts will have negative side effects. If used moderately and infrequently, the drug doesn't have many, if any negative side effects.

you mean gastric/duodenal ulcers? They are usually caused by a bacteria (H.Pylori) however they can also be caused by taking excessive amounts of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen (Tylenol) which often accompanies opiate pain killer drugs like morphine sulfate. I was just reading an article, published in '07 Supportive Oncology,which was describing use of Morphine Sulfate topical gel as an effective pain control method for ulcers on the epidermis. I wonder if it would be good for gastric ulcers too.

Hell yes u can...but be careful...liquid does not have fillers.....i can do a 30 unit shot and be nodin hardcore....just depends on your tolerance

Addition by Echo646: Morphine is stronger than percocet, however, and it can be more addictive and more likely to cause dependence, so even more care should be used when taking morphine. Every other opioid is judged by how well they treat pain compared to morphine.

If they are prescribed and dosages do not exceed maximum doses. Only effects would be increased dizziness, drowsiness, and respiratory depression. I am not a physican of any sort but I am also allergic to morphine. When I had lung surgery I was given morphine and I broke out in a real bad rash and hives. A couple years later I was in a pretty bad car accident and was prescribed percocet. Since then I have been prescribed it on 3 other occasions over the years and every time I take the percocet I have no problems at all with it. With that said, I would say that you can take percocet if your allergic to morphine. I hope that helps, but of course I would speak with a Dr first before anything.

I have an allergic reaction to morphine and have tried numerous other medications and i was prescribed Oxycontin which is i think what your referring to as percocet or the same family and i have the exact same side effects. My skin feels like its crawling and is that itchy i want to scratch it off. I also get bad nausea and dizziness.

No, morphine is an opiate while hydrocodone is a synthetic opioid, although hydrocodone can occasionally show as a false positive for opiates.

If they do not test for it then no it wont. But do to Tramadol being abused more and more by people parole and probation are testing for it. I would recommend that if you are prescribed that you take it to the test with you and also take it to who is requesting the test to see that you are prescribed a opiate.

Morphine can and does have an effect on breathing. The effects vary from each individual. A lot depends on a persons weight and the mg's taken and tolerance. What one can take safely could completely stop the respiration of another person.
