You can only motocross with the right equipment because without it you can injure yourself. Children are not aloud to motocross. Also you have to have the right bike for you or the bike could be too big and you could fall off. There has been a lot of motocross races but you have to train before you start races.

Crashing isn't always dangerous actually believe it or not you learn from your crashes making you better. Yeah getting ran over can be dangerous, But the biggest dangers are getting landed on and coming up short on a triple or double(caseing it), and casing a jump can lead to broken bones.

Midwest Senior Legend Connie Feist is from Columbia City, Indiana. Connie was the 1981 AMA Amateur 125cc Motocross Champion and continues to dominate much younger riders on a machine with a much smaller displacement. In 1996 Ricky raced one race at Delmont, Pa. Racing for: Team Spitfire/Pro-Circuit Kawasaki, he finished 8th and that was good enough for Rookie of the year honors. I believe his number was "6" I think.

The 8th at Delmont gave Ricky number #70 for the 1997 MX and SX season and he won the Rookie of the Year for finishing 3rd in 125 East SX and 1st in 125 MX AMA National Championship.

Any would be too many. Proper precautions and schooling cut down on the risk involved. yes there are many deaths in motocross. There are at least 10 times more deaths in car accidents than there are in motocross related accidents.

Physics and Math are related. Motocross is just the application of Physics as it applies to earth, motorcycles and people. The angle at which the tires of a motorcycle meet the earth is the single most important example of how math can help a rider to maintain maximum traction. Traction and therefore comfort lead to a higher speed. When a rider understands why he or she slows down, they can overcome their fear and conquer it. The understanding of traction and balance are tied to the application of math and physics. pffft its not just give the bike gas Also how fast you can go into a corner and come out of it. Usually a moutain bike helmet has a visor which sometimes can be removed. Reasoning on having a visor? Mountain biking usually meant going into the mountains on a single track and going in and out of the shadows from trees.

So this means usually road bikes don't have visors. Road bikes put your body posture more prone so if you had a visor your vision would be partially blocked.

Road helmets also more aerodynamically streamlined. As far as vents go, they usually have more but are smaller which helps with speed again.

There are many large prizes that a pro motocross racer can win each year. The most notable are the X-Games event gold medals and the AMA Motocross Championship.

If you couldn't get hurt, then dirt biking wouldn't be fun anymore. My add to the previous reply... It is safe when a child races within his ability with proper training from a qualified individual. Racing in a competitive class as a novice is where I have seen most kids get hurt due to lack of experience and preparation. Too often a parent buys a 12 year old an 85cc bike and puts him in competition after only a few practices. That is scary.

MotoX racing is much more expensive than just riding, of course. To race, here is a list of expenses. I live in the Midwest, and am giving averages. 1. Gear (buying gear right now is a great time, as 2005 gear is on close-out at many retailers) For jersey, pants, helmet, goggles, boots, gloves, chest protector...the average is $450-$600+. If you are committed to the sport, spend the extra money for good boots. 2. The bike (too many types to give an estimate here) Along with the bike, you need a bike stand. Five gallon buckets turned upside down are great, and cheap. 3.AMA card $39 Sanctioned races require you to have an AMA membership. You can purchase the membership at your first race. Your card will be mailed to you. This is an annual fee. 4. District card. The country is divided into districts. Here, in district 16, a card is $15 annually. 5. Per race registration is $20. Special events like Arenacross are more. 6. Tracks will charge you to get in the gate even if you race. The average is $7-10 (plus camping fee of $5-$10 at most tracks if you spend the night before race day) 7. gas. With gas prices what they are, obviously this needs to be in any racer's budget. 8. bike maintance. This varies greatly. Upkeep and maintance are major expenses. Overall, motocross is not a cheap sport. Here are some of my suggestions for cutting costs. If you are a newbie to the sport, and visit your local motocross supply store, be bold and ask for a discount. The mark-up is outrageous and most privately owned dealers will give customers a minimum of 10% off before you even prove your racing ability to them. If you are talented, and place well overall in a series, seek more substancial sponsorship. Many tracks will offer cash payment, or free or reduced race fees to racers who help out on race day. You may flag, water the track, or score, and you will be compensated in some way. If you have a parent or spouse who helps, they will be compensated also. It will most likely be a free or ruduced race fee for you. Pack your own food...always. Make friends at the track, and try to travel together to share expenses. Hope this helps.
