Yes, Erik Gates was an amateur rocketeer who appeared on several episodes of "Mythbusters". He died following an accident in Southern California on Dec. 20 in Newbury Park, California, after falling through a skylight at the headquarters of Xirrus Inc. He owned an electrical company and was doing contract work at the building, according to the Ventura County Star.

Myth Busters is on the Discovery Channel, channel 182.

She left on good terms with the myth busters to pursue her dreams to the fullest.

As a private group, the "Mythbusters" are not obliged to tell anyone - - other than the IRS - - their salaries, so you won't find it on any website.

Most likely, the Discovery Channel provides them with a certain budget for filming and salary (similar documentary/reality-based TV show budgets are only about $150,000; the real cost is in the production, not the "actors"). The rest comes from advertisers and the public, private, and government sectors, who don't mind giving their goods and services at little or no cost in return for free (inter?)national advertising and goodwill.

Salary-based websites show regular actors with speaking roles (as opposed to walk-ons, extras, supernumeries, etc), having salaries starting at about $40,000; given their non-luxury looks and probable bohemian lifestyles, it's doubtful that any of the Mythbusters make substantially more than that.

Mythbusters is a T.V. show that aims to test the validity of many urban myths, by first "replicating the circumstances, then replicating the results" - in other words, they test whether the myth actually could have happened in a normal or relative setting, then reproducing the results of the myth (which often involves explosions or objects travelling at high speed), and then giving the myth a 'Busted', (completely false), 'Plausible' (only used in some seasons) or 'Confirmed' (often verified by eyewitnesses, newspaper records or expert testimony) rating.

Adam- "Besides a couple of stitch-worthy cuts that I've sustained, I'd say the greatest injury has been to my dignity when receiving a rectal thermometer during the "Goldfinger Revisit" myth."

Jamie- "So far we have only had minor cuts and scrapes. The worst of these was a broken finger sustained, ironically, by one of the crew when handling safety equipment; specifically the bullet resistant Lexguard panels we use which are quite heavy. We are becoming increasingly aggressive about maintaining safety on the show as over time -- as we are often replicating circumstances in which someone got hurt or killed, let's just say we have reason to be cautious."
