Is stepping in netball penalty pass or free pass?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A penalty pass is different from a free pass in netball because:

A free pass is awarded to the opposing team because the infringement made by the other team only affected one player (stepping, replay, breaking) BUT

A penalty pass is awarded to the opposing team because the infringement made by the other team affected two or more players (contact, obstruction)

Attacking third: If it is in the goal circle, either the Goal Shooter or Goal Attack takes it. If it is outside the goal circle, then the Centre or Wing Attack takes it.

Centre third: Either the Wing Defence or the Goal Defence.

Defending third: Always the Goal Keeper.

any ball that you hit after one or no bounces from your side of the court onto the other side of the court that lands inside the lines. (as long as you don't touch the net at any time)

at the professional level, if you make an unnecessary noise while playing, you will lose the point. (such as yelling out before you have won the point)

What are the contemporary issues in netball?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Even more than I remember Toby Gearhart's performance at Stanford, I remember a draft broadcast one time saying he got straight 4.0's. Stanford is no Ivy League school, but it's still one of the best academic colleges in the country. To be able to keep up in studies and sports like that is amazing.

Unfortunately, there aren't many atheletes like Gearhart anymore. More and more colleges are willing to accept football players regardless of academic performance. More and more activities like Larry Fitzgerald finishing his degree are frowned upon. Why do it now when you can do it later? That has been the common argument, but god knows its a lot of work to go back to college later than it is now.

More and more atheletes are endorsed by companies which I think contributes to the problem. Atheletes get full of themselves, and they think that the sport they participate in is the only thing there going to do in their lives. Then the biting irony strikes and next thing you know, these "superstars" are bankrupt.

My point is, we need more Toby Gearhart's in this world, regardless of performance on the field.

Hope this caused people to think a little more

What does footwork means in netball?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Footwork in volleyball is a player's, in this case a hitter's, approach to spike a volleyball. There are multiple approaches, two of the most common are the three and four step approaches. Three step approach. If you are a right handed hitter, you do a three step approach (left, right, left) as follows - step with your left foot, step with your right foot, and the last step brings the left foot to the ground slightly ahead of the right foot. The final jump is done with a two foot take-off. The tempo of the three steps is slow, quick, quick. The four step approach is typically used by outside hitters and uses the same sequence but adding one more step at the start - right, left, right, left (slow, slow, quick, quick).

What does the goal attack do?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The Goal Attack scores goals similar to the Goal Shooter. GA can play in the centre third, the attacking third and the goal semi circle but they cannot play in the defensive third. The GA main role is to assist the GS in scoring and feeding to the GS. The GA can move more around the court and is not limited as against to the GS so therefore the GA must have excellent passing and shooting skills as well as creating space and helping getting the ball from the defensive third to the goal third.
