The person who probably came closest was Sal Maglie, who pitched for the Giants, Dodgers and Yankees in New York before ending his career in 1958, four years before the Mets were born and the first year that the Dodgers and Giants were no longer home teams in New York. Others like Maglie who played for all three New York teams were Fred Merkle, first baseman, and the following pitchers: Waite Hoyt, Burleigh Grimes, Johnny Allen and Bobo Newsom. Only Casey Stengel ever suited up for the four New York teams - as a player with the Giants, as a manager with the Yankees and Mets, and as player and manager with the Dodgers.
