NFL Draft

Specific information hasn't been released as of mid-October 2014 in regards to ticket prices and availability. The 2015 NFL Draft will be held in Chicago at The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University. The event will start on April 30 and end on May 2.

Based on the 2013 NFL draft, a first round draft pick can expect to sign a 4 year contract, earning between 1.7 million and 4.5 million dollars per year (rounded). Obviously the higher you are selected in the draft, the higher your salary will be.

There is usually no distinction made in contracts for starting versus not starting. Teams could abuse such a provision by holding players out of the first play of a game, which could cause ill will between the player/team. Therefore those types of contract riders are typically not included.

Based on the 2013 NFL round 5 signings, the players selected in the 5th round of the NFL draft can expect to sign a 4 year contract in the range of $2,300,000 to $2,400,000, with a signing bonus ranging from $140,000 to $220,000.

There were 35 players selected in the 5th round of the 2013 NFL draft (32 regular picks, 3 compensatory picks).

The largest contract was signed by S Sanders Cummings, who was selected with the 1st pick in the 5th round. He signed a 4 year deal worth $2,375,512, with a $215,512 signing bonus.

The smallest contracts for 5th round picks were signed by the last three players taken in the round. K Caleb Sturgis, DT Josh Boyd and T Ricky Wagner each signed a 4 year deal worth $2,304,560, and each received a $144,506 signing bonus.

It is predicted that Sam Bradford, Gerald McCoy, Ndamukong Suh, Jim Clausen, Trent Williams, or Russell Okung will be the first few picks of the 2010 NFL draft.

Vince Young of Texas was the 1st quarterback selected in the 2006 NFL draft. He was taken by the Tennessee Titans with the 3rd overall selection in the draft.

Sam Bradford was drafted number one overall. He was drafted last year by the St. Louis Rams. Bradford won a Heisman Trophy and set the NCAA record for touchdowns by a freshman while attending Oklahoma University.

Just because you haven't heard of him, doesn't mean no one else has heard of him. Jimmy Clausen is actually very well known across the nation, especially because he played at a high profile NCAA football school in Notre Dame. He isn't as well known as Tim Tebow from Florida or Colt McCoy of Texas, but he is definitely known.

Jimmy Clausen was the starting Quarterback for Notre Dame. Although he didn't end up being a finalist for the Heisman, he was considered by many to be in the running for the award. He played a few great seasons at Notre Dame, although often playing for less talented teams than other schools.

The consensus of NFL scouts is that they believe he is the second best quarterback in the NFL draft behind Oklahoma's Sam Bradford. Mel Kiper currently has Clausen going to the Okland Raiders at the 8th spot while Todd McShay has him going to the San Francisco 49ers at the 17th pick. Both are NFL draft guru's and part of ESPN. Each see Clausen as a surefire NFL prospect and a good NFL quarterback for years to come.
