They changed the playoff format in 2020 and now there are 7 teams from each conference. The #1 seed in the conference gets a bye and they added an extra wildcard team.

No they do not because the season ticket holders of the home team gets tickets and the other seats are just for sale. In the Super Bowl the away team's season ticket holders may get right to tickets, if they purchased their teams home playoff game tickets, if they had any home games, they will be entered in a lottery. Each team in the Super Bowl gets 17.5% of the tickets. If you win the lottery for the tickets through your season tickets, you get half the seats you have for your season tickets, I believe, so if you have 4 season tickets and you win the lottery, you get 2 Super Bowl tickets.

The Steelers were established in 1933. In 1947, they made their first playoff appearance. They did not make the playoffs again until 1972. The longest the Steelers missed making the playoffs since that time, was a four year span (1985-1988).

Playoff berths are awarded according to conference ranking, not records. The top six seeds in each conference make the playoffs, no matter what their records are. That includes the four division winners and two wild card teams (the non-division winners with the two best records).

In theory, it's possible to not win a single game and still make the playoffs! Every team in a division would have to go 0-10-6, with every team tying every other team in the division and losing all their games outside the division. Strength of schedule would be the first tiebreaker to kick in to determine a division winner.

The best record of the division winners is given the #1 seed in each conference. The second best division winner in each conference is given the #2 seed. These teams all get first round byes.

The 3rd division winner plays the worst wild card team (#6) in the first round and the 4th division winner plays the best wild card team (#5).

Home field is determined by the higher seed. After the first round of games the teams are matched up according to seeds. The #1 seed will play the lowest winning seed from the first round. The #2 seed will play the other winner.

The winner of the AFC plays the winner of the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Yes. Interestingly, Caldwell didn't become the offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens until December, 2012, just before the team began its eventful playoff run.

Caldwell is no stranger to Super Bowl appearances. He was Tony Dungy's quarterbacks coach at Indianapolis when the Colts won Super Bowl XLI with a 29-17 victory over the Chicago Bears. After Dungy's retirement, Caldwell became head coach and led the Colts to a Super Bowl berth after the 2009 season. The Colts were defeated by the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV, 31-17.

None. Before 1978, the NFL regular season was 14 games long. Two teams prior to 1978 had 11 wins in an NFL season and failed to make the playoffs. The 1967 Baltimore Colts went 11-1-2 and lost the Coastal Division title to the Los Angeles Rams on a head-to-head competition tie breaker and the 1963 Green Bay Packers went 11-2-1 and lost the Western Conference title to the Chicago Bears who went 11-1-2. In the 1968 American Football League season, the Kansas City Chiefs went 12-2 and failed to make the playoffs, losing a tie breaker game to the Oakland Raiders who had also gone 12-2 in the regular season.
