Can a nuclear weapon reach US soil?

Yes it can. The distance from Russia to the U.S is 9000km, r-36 Russian missile could travel 16000km in 30mins(and it is a 1967 one).

Can nukes be shot down?

Yes but hard to destroy them. Nukes cannot be shot down if they are in space but they can be shot down in the earth.

What is the idea of mutually assured destruction?

Mutually Assured Destruction is the concept that if someone attacks another they would respond by totally destroying the aggressor, but in the process of doing the destruction the original aggressor would be forced to totally destroy their original victim. Its acronym of MAD is very appropriate as it is mad to be the first aggressor as it would result in their own destruction.

It is appropriate with respect to nuclear weapons as superpowers have enough of such weapons to totally destroy the others, and so none would start a nuclear war (to destroy someone) because the other side could/would respond in an equally destructive manner (destroying them).

Can a ex-felon work at a nuke plant?

There are only two conditions in which you're an ex-felon:

  • You were convicted of something which was only a felony under state law, and not under federal law, and have since applied for and have received relief of disability.
  • You were convicted of a felony, and the convicted was later overturned, meaning you're no longer a felon.

If you've been convicted of a felony, and neither of the above apply to you, then you are not an ex-felon - you are a felon, and will be for life. A job at a nuclear power plant is not an option.

What is the element uranium used for in warfare?

  • Depleted Uranium, 0.2% U-235 99.8% U-238: Armor piercing antitank Gatling gun bullets and tank armor plate
  • Highly Enriched Uranium, 93.5% U-235 6.5% U-238: Fission bomb cores
  • Reactor Produced Uranium, <50PPM U-232 100% U-233: Fission bomb cores
  • Natural Uranium, 0.7% U-235 99.3% U-238: Fission bomb tampers
  • Depleted Uranium, 0.2% U-235 99.8% U-238: Fission bomb tampers
  • Natural Uranium, 0.7% U-235 99.3% U-238: Fusion bomb tampers
  • Depleted Uranium, 0.2% U-235 99.8% U-238: Fusion bomb tampers and radiation channel guides
  • Depleted Uranium, 0.2% U-235 99.8% U-238: Fertile material in production reactors to make Plutonium-239
  • etc.

Are people scared of nukes?

The cold war has come and gone, but the weapons that caused the cold war still remain.  In the 1960s , every person of age living in the world was aware of the threat that Nuclear Weapons posed.  The world was in such a tense state that Nuclear drills were as common as Tornado drills.  This was with only the United States and Russia having Nukes.

Today, there are quite a few countries with nuclear weapons.  It might surprise some people that India and Pakistan both have Nukes.  Of course North Korea has nuclear weapons now as well as Isreal.  It looks like the world has to prepare for  Nuclear Iran in the future as well.

Most people don't know the stakes anymore.  For instance, 1000 Nuclear weapons can end life on earth.  Both the US and Russia have enough weapons to do this.  1000 Nukes can create a global Nuclear Winter and life would wither away and the earth's atmosphere would change.

To keep it short.... We created a weapon that can end our time on the greatest planet on earth.  Its not really about war.  Its about the wrong people getting their hands on Nuclear arsenals....  Mistakes, computer errors.. etc.  We've come closer to Nuclear war than many people know.

Watch the video above and see how close we've come to all out destruction.

Can nukes destroy the whole entire planet?

No, current nuclear weapons do not have the capability to destroy the entire planet. However, they can cause catastrophic damage over a large area, leading to severe environmental consequences and loss of life. The concept of a "nuclear winter" resulting from massive nuclear exchanges could have global impacts on climate and ecosystems.

Is nuke boosting in modern warfare 2 illegal?

no it is not illegal. it simply pisses people off. i suggest using a silenced weapon, one man army, cold blooded, ninja. you obviously also need tactical insertions

How do you get the nuke on Skies of War?

To get the nuke you must have the full version, and complete the sixth or seventh mission, so go ahead and try it out! I have also found a way to get money, open cheat engine, times your money by 8, put that in cheat engine, choose size as double, scan and then make all the options to your desire (It only works if you have over 1000 money.) I hope that this worked!

What country used nuclear weapons offensively?

The United States used the atomic bomb offensively during WWII. That is pretty close to nuclear weapons.

Can nuclear weapons be manufactured from you 233?

Yes, uranium-233 produced in a reactor from thorium, has almost identical fissile properties to plutonium-239.

What problem did the nuclear bomb solve?

The nuclear bomb was developed during World War II to bring a swift end to the conflict by forcing Japan to surrender. The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki led to Japan's surrender, ultimately ending the war in the Pacific.

Is it legal to own hydrogen bomb?

Only for some countries: United States, Russia, China, United Kingdom, France, India, Pakistan, Israel.

How do you activate nuclear weapons?

Depends on the bomb design and the country. In the US all nuclear weapons now have a PAL (Permissive Action Link) installed. The PAL is a cryptographically controlled device connected to all arming, safing, and destruct systems. The president has a device called the "football" with him at all times, usually carried by an aide. If the president decides a nuclear attack is necessary he uses the "football" to select the plan and it transmits the PAL codes and targeting information. Unless the PAL code is entered by the operators correctly the device will not arm. If they get the code wrong 3 times the PAL refuses all further entries and will not arm. If they persist after 3 bad codes the PAL may choose to destroy the device by detonating the chemical explosives with the nuclear component disarmed.

What is the most powerful nuke?

If you are talking about the most powerful ever than it is the Tsar Bomba. It was a soviet bomb whose explosive force had been halved to 50 megatons or 50 million tons of tnt. It was originakky to have a force of 100 megatons but the explosion was decided to be too large and the plane wouldn't get out in time.

Today the biggest one probably has a force of less than 15 megatons.

What metals are used for weapons?

Steel, aluminum, pot metal, zinc, and others, depending on the weapon and quality of manufacture.

Why are no weapons allowed in the DMZ?

Because a 'DMZ' is a de-militarized zone and weapons are military equipment. The idea is to create a tract of land between to feuding parties that seperates them, to give confidence to both parties there has to be agreement that this tract of land will remain free of all weapons.
