Depends on the bomb design and the country. In the US all nuclear weapons now have a PAL (Permissive Action Link) installed. The PAL is a cryptographically controlled device connected to all arming, safing, and destruct systems. The president has a device called the "football" with him at all times, usually carried by an aide. If the president decides a nuclear attack is necessary he uses the "football" to select the plan and it transmits the PAL codes and targeting information. Unless the PAL code is entered by the operators correctly the device will not arm. If they get the code wrong 3 times the PAL refuses all further entries and will not arm. If they persist after 3 bad codes the PAL may choose to destroy the device by detonating the chemical explosives with the nuclear component disarmed.

If you are talking about the most powerful ever than it is the Tsar Bomba.It was a soviet bomb whose explosive force had been halved to 50 megatons or 50 million tons of tnt. It was originakky to have a force of 100 megatons but the explosion was decided to be too large and the plane wouldn't get out in time.

Today the biggest one probably has a force of less than 15 megatons.

Oh wow, this is soooo easy, why don't you ask something difficult, like "why is my big brother so stoopid" or something. Anyway, here goes:

You first get a wonder bra that has a bit of padding to hide the nuclear stuff. If you have really big...errr...well if you are generously...k nvmind, just get a big bra.

Then you buy some Uranium (I didn't have to cap that but I thot it would stand out better that way), but it has to be U235 because U238 is much cheaper but it won't explode no matter how hard you try.

So now you have U235 and all you have to do is to stuff it in your bra (between the padding and the outer part - this is to hide it from airport people - until you reach critical mass. This is the amount where a fissionable substance will begin to fission and will be essentially uncontrolable.

The critical mass for U235 is approximately 600kg or about 1.5 tons, but don't worry, you won't have to get a mastectomy to accomodate all this rock, because once you reach it, you will no longer have any breasts to worry about. Nor will any of your closest friends.

BTW, it doesn't have to be a WonderBra, any bra will do, or even a plastic grocery bag.

Apply for jobs at the weapons labs (Los Alamos, Livermore, Sandia), if they accept you they will apply for a clearance for you, the FBI will spend at least 2 years investigating at least 10 years of your life, if the FBI approves you you will sign a pile of NDAs, then you can begin your job. (tedious eh?)

We know for certain that they have nuclear bombs. They would probably only use them if we pushed them or South Korea invaded. So, as far as we know, they are not planning to bomb us, but they probably will if provoked too much.

There is NO difference; a nuclear weapon is a nuclear weapon.

A tactical nuclear weapon is normally deployed from a nuclear cannon (atomic cannon/nuclear artillery). These pieces were developed in the 1950s, and fired quite frequently in Nevada at atomic test sites.

The difference is explosive yield. Regular nukes are typically measured in megatons, while tactical nukes are smaller and measured in kilotons. Tactical nukes were intended to be used at the tactical level against specific battlefield targets and in relative close proximity to friendly troops. Regular nukes were meant as a deterrence and were intended to destroy large cities.

Mostly NO. Bank Vaults are made from heavy weight metals which can prevent human intrusion by force. Nuclear Attacks are of a different kind and such heavy metals are of no use when such an attack happens.

Close, but allow me to update your answer. In a nuclear attack we have three destructive elements Blast, Thermal radiation (heat radiation), and fall out type of radiation. There are more but for this discussion lets keep it simple.

A bank vault may save you from the blast, and most bank vaults have thick high density concrete walls reinforced with re-bar. This would be a moderate blast shield, however it would depend on your distance from the detonation and the size of the nuclear device. Test are done in PSI (pounds per square inch). Certain concrete structures can take certain amounts of PSI loads, and based on your distance from the detonation would determine the PSI load on the structure (bank vault). The bank vault would be excellent protection from the Thermal effect at a distance. Being at ground zero or within a mile of a 750kt strike, you would be vaporized, even in the vault. As in fallout, radioactivity that falls in debris, you would have some what descent protection. But you would need food and water stocks, due to the 3 to 5 weeks you need to stay in the vault until the fallout radiation level dropped enough to come out. A good basement with bags of earth above you would afford the same protection as the vault for the fact it is not in direct view of the blast. Now if you found a bank vault in a basement, then you are set since it is protected from line of sight effects of the blast and affords protection characteristics of being underground.
