How do you tell if oakleys are real?

Take the glasses from whoever you are checking and break them. If they get really mad, they are probably true Oakleys. If they only get irritated, they are fakes.

Will Oakley bottlecap lenses fit in a flak jacket frame?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No, they will not.

I managed to get mine to fit by marking off how much material to remove off of the bottom and side edges of the lens, masking off the front of the lens, and using a high speed rotary tool w a sanding attachment to actually remove the material. Takes a steady hand and a Dremel.

Also, you have to take just a small amount of material off of the pointed tabs located towards the nose piece on each lens.

Can lenses be removed from one frame and put in another frame?

Prescription lenses are ground to fit the frames. They may or may not fit the the new frames properly. The best thing to do is take the glasses and the frames to an optomotrist.

Are the Oakley half jacket lens and flak jacket lens interchangeable?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The only difference is that xlj lenses have a concave lower edge to them, standard lenses are convex. Basically xlj gives you more 'cheek clearance'.. Both will fit fine in any half jacket frame. Answering these questions is fun

How you replace an Oakley Radar earsocks?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

!

I just finished 're-socking' my Oakley C-wire sunglasses last night, so I can offer some insight.

I began by removing my old socks, wiping off the residue that remained with a dry paper towel, and then cleaning the entire earpiece area well with glass cleaner. Then I began to attempt to slide the new earsock on. It was so difficult that I was afraid that I was going to bend my frames, so I had to remove the sock and start over.

An important first step is to put a small dab of water-based lubricant on the very tip of the earpiece, where the sock will be started. (You can prolly also use petroleum-based jelly, but I don't know if this might possibly damage the sock, over time.) Don't use much, only a bit is required!

Now start the sock onto the earpiece, pushing it on in the correct alignment. If it starts to 'slow down' on you, simply use your finger to move a bit of the 'bead' of lube out in front of the sock onto the remaining, uncovered earpiece. If the sock begins to get out of alignment or twist at the rear portion, back at the end of the earpiece, realign it correctly and continue.

Once you have gotten the sock to the correct location at the front of the earpiece (towards the hinge and lens), you may find that it tries to 'retract' itself backwards towards the end of the earpiece. This simply means that you haven't yet advanced enough of the back portion of the sock onto the earpiece: in other words, it is in a 'stretched' condition. Just push a bit more of it onto the earpiece from the back of the sock until it stops trying to pull itself back. Then, again, ensure correct alignment of the sock.

Note: If you begin this process at a time when you can allow the glasses to 'sit' for a few hours (i.e., sock them one evening, and allow to sit all night), then you can be certain the socks won't try to 'retract' on you. This way when you trim the excess you'll be certain it will truly be the correct length, leaving no gaps in the front or back of the earpiece.

Also, if you're still having trouble, you might try heating the sock up a bit with a blowdryer to expand the material before you slide them onto the earpiece.

Hope this helps! Flex

Don't use any petroleum-based substance on an ear sock. It will rot the rubber. Try this instead of Vaseline: Dishwashing liquid. That's right Oakley lovers, it works great. Put a little on the end of the earpiece and inside the ear sock. It will slide right on, and then you can rinse off the soap! Love those Oakleys!!

Where can you buy Foakley sunglasses?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

"Foakley" refers to fake Oakley glasses.

Selling and buying these products are illegal. And for a good reason too.

Fake designer products are usually assembled in developing or poverty areas of Asia using illegal child labourand forced slavery.

By purchasing fake designer products, you are financially supporting the abuse of children as labour (possibly sexually too according to the United Nations Human Trafficking reports) and you are financially supporting slavery.

This is why they are illegal. This is why you will face the consequences for owning or selling fake designer items. It has nothing to do with copyright or the designer losing money.

You can buy REAL Oakleys on the legitimate Oakleys website, legitimate glasses shops, opticians and Amazon.

Do vintage sunglasses have UV protection?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It depends. Most large sunglass companies like RayBan install high-end sunglass lenses into their glasses and have been doing them for years.

Do I think these lenses are better that the ones that are out now? No, but I think some eye protection is better than none.
