No Chinese movie has ever won an Oscar. Two have been nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category, and a few other in different categories- Cinematography, Costume Design, but none have won, yet.

There was no winner that year for Best Animated Feature because the category had not been created yet. Best Animated Feature was a category that was created for the 2002 Academy Awards (for films released in 2001). However, the category for Best Animated Short Film has been around since the 1930's.
