Prometheus (Mythology)

Prometheus represents the archetypes of the strength of the human will and defiance against authority.

Fire -- He only gave them fire :)

Well in a nut shell, Prometheus created man. We love what we create because it is like our child. Prometheus knew man would never go far without technology, so like many fathers, he sacrificed himself and paid the price.

He didnt want man to be equal with the Gods

In Greek mythology Zeus withheld fire from mankind, but Prometheus stole it. In some stories Prometheus created man from mud. Doctor Frankenstein tried to create human life in a dead body. The parallel should be obvious.

Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to mankind, but he was punished for this by Zeus. He was chained to a rock where, by day, a vulture would eat his liver. However, as Prometheus was immortal, his liver would grow back overnight. This was to be his punishment for all eternity.

Zeus orders to enchain Prometheus in the Caucasus Mountains, where a vulture will eat his liver all day, for eternity.

For being a suffering but noble champion of human freedom

Prometheus wanted to give man the gift of fire even when he knew the consequences of his decision because he loved man so much that he risked his immortal body for them in attempting to give them hope of the future, and in trying to bring them closer to the gods, also to make them thrive above all the other animals of the earth.

Yes Prometheus was a good guy. Not only did he trick Zeus into having humans sacrifice the bones of the animal instead of the meat, but also he gave humans fire even at the cost of his freedom.

This is a subjective question, but mankind would be quite miserable if Prometheus hadn't stolen fire.

Prometheus had created humans in the likeness of gods, using the clay and water of Panopeus, and Athena had breathed a living soul into them. To compensate for the lack of great qualities, which had foolishly all been given to the creatures by Epimetheus, the wise Titan made Man stand upright like the gods, to be noble and conscious, and to hold his head high, looking up at the heavens.

In Greek mythology, Prometheus was a Titan who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mankind. The subtitle "Modern Prometheus" refers to Frankenstein's quest for the knowledge to give life (analogous to the "fire", which was the exclusive province of the gods).

He stole fire from them. As a result, Zeus chained him to a mountain in the Caucasus Range for all of eternity where an eagle would eat his liver daily. His liver would regenerate by night only to have the process repeat. Eventually, he was freed by Hercules.

He was the titan of forethought and crafty counsel. He was also the creator of mankind.

In return for some helpful advice for one of his labors, Heracles drove away the vulture that pecked at Prometheus's liver, and then broke the chains binding him. Thus, Prometheus was rescued.

That he would be overthrown by a child of his own.

Dr. Frankenstein is a fictional character in Mary Shelley's novel, Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus. In the novel, the doctor creates life using ground-breaking technology and methodology. His experiments climax when he reanimates a dead man, which he had stitched together from several corpses of other dead men. Not moments after his creature had come to life, Frankenstein was filled with hate and disgust for his 'son'.

Frankenstein was essentially 'punished'. He had stolen a gift of the gods -in this case life, as opposed to fire- and now had to have his innards eaten out, so to speak. His punishment was that he hated his own creation, which he thought he would love unconditionally.

Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus is a fantastic novel that can be seen as a trial of the soul, a political allegory, an existential work, representation of Greek mythology and so forth, but, what it ultimately tells the reader is a tale about human nature and discovering who you are and what your purpose is on Earth. Prometheus was the creator of man in Greek myth. Because of his gift of fire (which he stole from the gods), he was punished by being chained to a rock and having his liver eaten out every day by an eagle. Because he was immortal, he could never die from this. He was eventually freed by Heracles after Chiron the Centaur exchanged his immortality for Prometheus' freedom.

Prometheus did not make women.

He made mortal man.

A women - Pandora -was crafted by Hephaestus by the request of Zeus.

Prometheus was a titan, and in the creation of mankind he gave the humans fire, because his brother epimtheus gave the animals all the good stuff like protection, and speed and everything else.

what he did was tricked Zeus and commited three crimes against Zeus, for example,

1. he loved man more then the gods, so Zeus put women on earth,

2. he tricked Zeus, so Zeus tricked him into letting a woman into the house,

(the woman was Pandora, and she was evil, she had a box full of evil things and released it into the world cause of her curiosity)

3. he didnt tell Zeus the name of his only human son, so Zeus put Prometheus on top of a cliff and tied him there, and everyday Zeus would turn into an Eagle and gore some body part out of him, and make him better so he could do it again every day.

if you don't see the biblical refrences either, then the mother who was a vergin, who was pregnant with a gods son, was Mary, and Jesus was the son.
