Some examples of prophets date back several centuries, and come from a variety of religious backgrounds. These could include Muhammad, Jesus Christ, and Nostradamus. According to the Book of Daniel, Daniel was taken by the Babylonians into Exile as a young boy, and grew up under Babylonian tutelage. He was always true to his beliefs, and even refused to eat the king's meat.
In chapter 2, in a story with many close parallels to the earlier story of Jacob in Egypt, Daniel interpreted a dream of King Nebuchadnezzar, after which he became second in command of the Babylonian Empire. After the Persian conquest of Babylon, Daniel soon once again became second in command, this time of the whole Persian empire. Because he was found worshipping his God, in defiance of an imperial order, he was thrown into a den of lions, but survived.
The story of Daniel contains many historical errors, and these were not historical events. There was no prophet Daniel, and there is ample evidence that the Book of Daniel was a novel written approximately 167 BCE, long after the time attributed to Daniel. The strong theological and nationalistic themes of the book resulted in it eventually becoming accepted by the later Jews as historical.

Strictly speaking, as Christmas is a day assigned by mankind to represent the birthdate of Jesus Christ (which the Bible does not specifically state), then no prophet is 'related' to Christmas. At that time there were two kingdoms of Israelites and they were the Kingdoms of Judah (around Jerusalem) and the Kingdom Israel (the northern area of Israel). The end of the Northern Kingdom (Kingdom of Judah) came in 721 BC. Therefore Daniel had to come from the southern kingdom (Kingdom of Israel).
