Rain and Flooding

Drought can occur even in areas with abundant rainfall due to factors such as high evaporation rates, poor water management practices, or uneven distribution of water throughout the year. In some cases, the timing or intensity of rainfall may not align with when or where it is needed most, leading to periods of water scarcity or drought.

The Bible provides some details about the earth before the Flood, including that people lived long lives and that violence and wickedness were prevalent. It describes the world as corrupt and filled with sin, leading to God's decision to bring about the Flood. Genesis 6-9 provides the most detailed account of the events surrounding the Flood.

Approximately 30% of Earth's land does not receive sufficient precipitation, making it arid or semi-arid. This can lead to desertification and impact ecosystems and human livelihoods in these regions.

Rain that falls to the surface and forms runoff is known as surface runoff. Surface runoff occurs when the soil is saturated and cannot absorb any more water, leading to water flowing over the ground and eventually collecting in bodies of water like rivers and lakes.

it comes from the water cycle. the sun heats up some water ( in the sea, a river ect.) and the water evaporates ( the water turns in a gas) and the gas is called water vapor. then the gas goes high in the atmosphere ( convection ) then the water vapor cools down and condenses ( gas turns into a liquid ) and turns into a cloud. then the wind blows the cloud ( usually over a mountain ) and the cloud precipitates ( rain, snow, hail or sleet happens ) then the water forms rivers, streams, lakes, ect. some of the water seeps into the ground this is called ground water. ( some water just comes back to the sea or place it was) then it all happens again...

( evaporation can also happen from the water on trees but that's called transpiration.)

Cairns gets more rain than Geraldton. Cairns, located in Far North Queensland, has a tropical rainforest climate with frequent rainfall throughout the year. Geraldton, located in Western Australia, has a Mediterranean climate with lower annual rainfall compared to Cairns.

Monsoon winds blow warm, moisture-laden air from the oceans onto land. As the warm air rises over the cooler land, it cools and condenses, forming clouds and eventually leading to rainfall. This process repeats during the monsoon season, bringing consistent rainfall to the affected regions.

Maritime climates receive high annual precipitation because they are influenced by nearby bodies of water, which evaporate moisture into the air. This moisture then falls back to the ground as precipitation. The constant interaction between the water and the air in maritime climates leads to a higher amount of rainfall throughout the year.

The combination of warm ocean currents and cool air temperatures in this region creates a favorable environment for the formation of rain clouds.

Rainfall affects the water budget by supplying water to the system, which can lead to increased infiltration, runoff, and groundwater recharge depending on factors like soil type and vegetation cover. Both factors play a critical role in shaping the local water balance and availability.

One of the biggest floods near Florida was caused by Hurricane Harvey in 2017, which impacted Texas and resulted in widespread flooding. Additionally, Hurricane Katrina in 2005 caused significant flooding in Louisiana and parts of Mississippi, which had ripple effects across the region.

People just stereotype. FL is not always sunny. Winter this year in FL was TERRIBLE! We had two nights of sleet where I lived, (Orlando,) and we had actual SNOW in Pensacola. But I have to admit it does get hot in the summer, but it's not always like that.

This expansion can cause the rock to crack and break apart, leading to the mechanical weathering of the rock layers. Over time, repeated freezing and thawing cycles can contribute to the breakdown of rocks and the development of soil.
