After a few hours of research (thanks to Remington society) about my own gun I found that I have a Remington Model 12 CS (Model 12 C version that shoots only S 22 Special rounds). 22 Special is the same as 22 WRF (available from Cabelas). It was made in June of 1933 according to barrel stampings of PX using the BLACKPOWDER-X system. Hope this helps someone else identify their old rifle. Dave

The Remington 241 (after the model 24) is browning design and look the same, the 241 was last made in 1949.

Adjust? You mean to remove or tighten? There is a threaded tightening bolt right in front of the receiver over the barrel.

Yes any gun chambered in .22lr will shoot .22longs and .22shorts. Don't expect them to cycle properly or at all though. So you'll more than likely end up having to cycle each round manually.

"Try gun shops, gun shows, pawn shops, want ads"- rebuttle: this is an extremely hard part to find. It would not be at any of those places (with the exception of maybe a random gun show) ; could people only answer the question if they actually know where to get it? I.E. you've seen one for sale somewhere!

As long as the barrel was made after 1950 and does NOT have a full choke, you will be able to shoot steel #2 or smaller.

Remington Model 700 bolt action rifles in 7mm Rem. mag. have a 1 in 9 right hand twist (one full turn in nine inches of barrel). This will accomodate bullet weight/length up to 175 grains.

Greatly depends on the model and condition. I'm not sure where your getting 1962 but if it's on the barrel it's a patent date and means little towards identification.

Check the date code stamp on the left side of the barrel you can get the details and look it up on the Remington Society of America under the manufactured date link.

if it's in good condition up to 200 dollars, but the market on it is down right now, i have one with the scabbord and i dont intend on selling it anytime soon because its worth alot more to me then anyone would pay for it right now.I also have a original 1917 bayonet marked UMC 1917,with its original scabbard that I bought for 125 dollars to go with my all original US Model of 1917 Eddystone Rifle,and original sling.

Yes they did, i have one sporterised. It is marked M1917 Remington on the top of the reciever.

OH on the barrel? that's not the serial. If it's early probably July 1961.

Are you sure you have all the pieces? It's quite common that people loose the barrel take-up lock that fits in the channel in the receiver, without that it'll wiggle no matter how tight you make it. I believe Numrich has a diagram of parts on-line (e-gunparts.com) I would check you have all that first and you might head over to the Remington Society of America forums for more help.
