How do you cook parboiled rice in a rice cooker?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I have found several different recipes for this.

One is to use the 2 cup per 1 cup ratio. This is the popular one. Another one is that your boil 1 cup of rice in 6 or 8 cups of water for 15 minutes. Drain and add back into the saucepan at 1 ¼ to 1 ½ cups water, bring to a boil, turn down to simmer for 20 minutes. Take the saucepan off the burner and let the rice cool for 5 minutes. Fluff and serve.

Some rice cookers offer several settings: white/mixed, sushi, porridge, sweet, brown, rinse-free and quick cooking. Check your rice cooker for the correct settings for the rice. You can use several different types of rice in the place of white rice for the recipe:

Using the rice cooker is always an easy way to go because with the rice cookers you have recipe booklets that come with it and there are also several good rice cooker cookbooks available.

Will a 220 V 50Hz rice cooker work in 220V 60 Hz circuit?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Some devices are frequency sensitive and thus they will only work on a power supply whose frequency is the same as the set frequency. So, look on the cover of that rice cooker and check for the label which shows the voltage and power rating of the cooker. On that label, there must be it's frequency too.

Also, most devices have been designed such that they are universal i.e they can operate at a frequency between 50-60Hz.

How much water in a rice cooker for calrose rice?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Calrose rice came to life out of a rice experiment and was released to growers in 1948. The name Calrose comes from two ideas. The Cal was for California where the original experiments were created and the 'rose' indicates medium-grain shape. Calrose rice has gone through a lot of changes and experiments through the years and the original grain does not exist today.

What we have today is a grain that is referred to as sticky rice and is used in Sushi. Everywhere I have looked on the internet and how I cook Calrose rice is one cup of rice per 1 ¾ cup water. This works also for the rice cooker.

What is the current AMP of a 220V rice cooker?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The amps it draws depends on how big it is. Typically 2-12 amps. Check for a manufacturer's plate that shows the wattage Most of the load in a rice cooker is a resistive heating element, so the amperage will be quite close to the wattage divided by the voltage (220 here).
