mI am blind, and I absolutely love all the roller coasters at Cedar Point. In fact, I think blind people can get even more of a thrill out of roller coasters because the sight aspect is almost, if not entirely, eliminated so they experience and perceive the ride differently than those with sight.

I know what the Tallest, Fastest, Steepest, but not longest roller coaster is. I'll just say it anyways, Kingda Ka. This roller coaster does no deserve to be here because all it did was copy off of Cedar Point, (sandusky,Ohio). Six Flags, (New Jersey) just trys to show up Cedar Point and it never works. If i were u i would not invest stocks in six flags and go to Cedar Point. If u want there to be better roller coasters cedar point will build them if they got the money. In my opinion Kingda Ka was only built to beat Cedar Point's Top Thrill Dragster.

To name ones off the top of my head (without looking anything up) we have Great Coasters International (GCII), The Gravity Group, S&S International, and Chance Morgan Rides. These are some of the big players while there are also smaller ride companies that, right now, I can't think of their names. Hope this helps.

When you ascend the first hill of a roller coaster, you will like hear a continuous series of loud "clicking" sounds. This is the result of a device called a "Chain Dog," which is a roll-back safety device, part of which is on the lift hill itself and part of which is on the coaster train.

If you look between the tracks on the lift hill, you will see a strip or two of metal that have a series of raises and dips. On the bottom of each coaster car, there are one-way hinged metal flaps that drag along this strip of raised metal, sliding over the raises and falling into the dips. In the event that the chain fails--or worse, breaks--the one-way hinged metal flaps will fall into the dips, the coaster train will back up very slightly, and the metal flaps will then lock into place in one of these dips. This device is called a "Chain Dog," and it is what prevents a roller coaster from rolling backward down the lift hill.
