Advice: If you want to get good at beating the cube, I would learn the algorithms by heart. Seriously, there is no way around this. But if it's just a one time thing, you can just follow the algorithms and forget about it. Dan Brown's tutorial on YouTube is really helpful, there are only a few algorithms.

According to me, Dayan Zhanchi is better because of it's torpedoes, but they both are nearly same. For fast cubers, i prefer Dayan Zhanchi which is tensioned.

That depends on what you expect from the cube, like speed, stability etc. If you want a fast cube that is capable to cut corners very well, I'd suggest either a type AV or an F-II. First you have to learn how to solve it which will take between 3-7 days. To improve your time learn better ways to solve it start with an easy method and work on from that an easy to learn method can be found on the Rubiks cube ipod app that can be purchased for free of the app store. Another way to improve your time is to get a better rubiks cube one that slides around the pieces more easier then others and to improve the slide lube it using vaseline. Just take it apart lube the pieces put it back together and use it freuquntely so the vaseline gets in all the peices. Make sure you use it after pputting the vaseline on it other wise it wil dry and will be hard to use.
