There is no legal, sports requirement to issue the names of the playing squad to the public. However, it is expected by the lead bodies that the team is announced to ensure that there are no specific issues of players being allowed to play, that they can be checked before and post match for drugs and for the purpose of those who are not eligible through not being a nation of the playing country, serving a match ban or have restricted medical grounds i.e. were knocked out previously and are serving a 3 match rest period. In addition the team is announced as the programmes sold at the venue need to be printed and sent to the venue. The team announcement also serves to rally support

The dimensions of a rugby union field should be as close as possible to 100metres x 70metres. Although, in the Laws of the Game, there is NO minimum width of a rugby union pitch, but there is a maximum width of 70metres. In theory, a rugby union pitch could be as little as 15metres wide!

Inside the playing area (in addition to the halfway line), there three lines in each half running parallel to the goal line; a line at 10metres from the halfway, a line at 22meters from the goal line and a line at 5metres from the goal line. There are also two lines parallel to each sideline; one line at 5metres and one line at 15metres. The in-goal area must be at least 2m and not more than 22m.

Additionally, other than the match officials and players, no-one should be within 2metres of the pitch (for safety) but the 'field of play' (normally the continuous grass area) has no maximum.

Each team is allowed 15 players on the field at a time - this includes 8 forwards which include 2 props, a loose and a tight head, a hooker, 2 second rowers, 2 flankers and a no.8 there are also 7 backs which include a scrum half and a flyhalf, 2 wingers, and inside centre and an outside centre and a fullback. there is also allowed to be up to 7 reserves on the bench.

There isnt one. The league code when formalised removed the flankers (wing forwards) to reduce the the team to 13 to 13 and to allow the outside halves to speed the running part of the game

their is 15 players from each team on the feild at anyone time. every team also has about 10 reserves in case a player gets sent off or injured

Its nearly impossible to state as there are local clubs where registration is not required, schools collages, university local "pub side" male female youth age restricted etc etc but is is estimated by the World Rugby board that over 1 million now play the game in its varying forms regularly
