Actually not really. With my experiences with them the quality is very inconsistent from horn to horn. Sure there are a few that may work wonders but that chance is slim. I do have to say that they are better than most stencil horns though.

The parts of the saxophone include: The Body, The Neck, and The Mouthpiece.

A reed is attached to the saxophone mouthpiece using a ligature.

What is a saxophone made out of?

It is made of brass

They are typically made of brass ever since they were first created. Even though they are made of brass they are still considered woodwinds because of the reed. However, other materials have been used to construct saxophones. In the 1950's the Grafton Saxophone was made which was an alto saxophone made out of plastic. They only ever made alto saxophones. Yanagisawa and Bauhaus Walstein made saxophones out of phosphor bronze because it changed the tone of the notes. Later, Yanagisawa made necks, bells and then entire bodies out of sterling silver. Keilwerth and P. Mauriat have made saxophones out of nickel silver, the same material used to make a flute.

Here is more information about the Sousaphone: It was created at the request of John Philip Sousa (Band leader and composer of many American popular marching band songs.) The Sousaphone was developed by adapting the bell of the Helicon (a form of tuba that wraps around the body and rests on one shoulder to allow playing while marching or on horseback.) The first Sousaphones had bells that point straight up in the air and could also be turned to point forward. Sousa used these horns in both concert and marching formations. Later versions used in other major American bands had the bell arranged to rotate left or right but was tipped forward at a fixed angle (as it is currently.)

Sousaphones are in use worldwide and are made by many musical instrument companies. The Sousaphone is considered slightly different to the Tuba in sound quality, but can play exactly the same notes. Some Tubas have more valves than Sousaphones for increased range and improved intonation.

Sousaphones are seen in high school and college marching and "Pep" bands, Military Bands, Jazz, Rock and Funk bands, where the comfortable playing position and sound projection are appreciated. Helicons are still in production and are very popular in Southern European brass bands.

What kind of brand of saxophones does Kenny g have?

He obviously has lots of saxophones but the only clue I've got is for his Alto Sax, his primary alto is Selmer Mark VI.

What is is the best type of saxophone to play?

If you must start on sax, most teachers would recommend starting on alto sax. It's the easiest to control and much smaller and lighter than the tenor which is the other likely candidate. The soprano is smaller yet, but it's difficult to play in tune and there aren't parts for soprano in much band music.

Personally, I'd recommend that young players start on clarinet. It's smaller and lighter, and fits young hands better, and it's easy to switch to sax later. It's also easier to lug around and costs less.

Serious reed players are expected to play any of the clarinet and sax families, as well as flute. Players who start on clarinet will find that easier. It's much easier for a clarinetist to learn to play sax, than for a sax player to learn clarinet.

Does the saxophone have a reed?

No, the flute is a woodwind but is not a reed instrument because it produces sound by directing air across the edge of a hole in a cylindrical tube. Reed instruments focus air into a mouthpiece causing the 'reed' to vibrate. Examples include the clarinet, saxophone, the oboe and the bassoon.

Why isn't the saxophone in an orchestra?

Because the saxophone was invented after the Symphony Orchestra. The sax is incorporated into some songs for Symphony orchestra because those pieces are quite modern. I guess symphony orchestras don't like saxophones because it drowns out other instruments because it is such a loud woodwind. But, of course, the saxophone is great in jazz bands and modern pieces.

Where can you find good anime sheet music for alto saxophone?

I don't know but my friend once tried to get the notes for Dr Who on violin and it cost £60. So I wouldn't bother with sheet music and just try it by thinking of the notes and trying to match them with the sax. That's what I do and it helps you memorise the notes without having to read from the sheet.
