Does the saxophone play melody or harmony?
The saxophone may play either melody or harmony. However, as an instrument that was designed to simulate the human vocal apparatus it often tends to play melody. The alto sax is more likely to play melody (as opposed to harmony) than the tenor sax, being a higher-pitched instrument.
How do you disinfect a saxophone reed?
What I would do is take it to your local music shop and ask the clerk. Lots of music stores sell special cleaning materials and cleansers for instruments. If you cant find a music store, the best thing you can do right now is take a rag with luke-warm water and gently clean the keys, the bell, and your mouthpiece, but be sure NOT to get the pads under the keys wet! If they get wet, they soak up the water, would become bloated, and fall off, which will cost upwards of $200 to repair and replace.
There isn't really any perfect age to start learning the saxophone. It is just like learning any instrument it is better if you start as early as you can but you can never be too old. I would say the best age would be about eight years old but do not stress if you are older than that you can start at any time.

Is treble saxophone and soprano saxophone is the same?
I've been in music all my life, and I confess that I've never heard the term "treble saxophone"
I have been involved in the repair of wodwind most of my life and served in an army band for 7 and a half years including boys service. There are two saxophones that I have heard of that are "abnormal". The first was the " HIGH " sax which I believe to have been in C. The second of these was the TREBLE sax which I have seen and had a fundamental lowest note of G concert. There are examples of this which are generally regarded as children's saxophones. I have also heard of a sax in F but never seen one.

To change the pitch on an Alto Saxophone push and pull the mouthpiece on/off the cork. To make your pitch less flat push on and to make your pitch less sharp pull off. (Make sure you are using cork grease on your cork so that you are not damaging the mouthpiece, cork, and neck.) You can also try changing the pitch, put less pressure on your lips to make the pitch drop, and vice versa.

How do you make your armpits smell good?
Armpit hair starts to grow during puberty and is a natural development. The amount of armpit hair varies from person to person and males tend to have more armpit hair than females.
There are a couple of theories for why we have armpit hair. One is that it helps to reduce friction between the underarm and the body. Another theory is that it helps to keep the underrm area dry and prevents the colonization of odour producing bacteria.
How to soften a new saxophone reed?
Everybody has their own "best" way to care for reeds, but there are a couple things that everyone agrees on.
NEVER leave your reed on your mouthpiece. It will get unbelievably gross and not last very long. Always return your reed to a case (the case it came in or one of a million different kinds that you can buy).
Use several reeds in rotation, the more the better. If you play one reed at a time until it gives out, not only will it not last as long, but you won't have to panic if a reed breaks right before a concert.
Answer 2(?)I usually have only 1 reed per sax at a time, for the main reason that reeds go softer, denser, and moldy depending on how much you use them. Dont leave a reed on ur sax, after a week it wont be possible to play it because there isn't any moisture.I recommend using a reed guard or something like that, which is just a case, which doesnt let moisture escape.
If you ever break your reed b4 a concert or the like, just spend half a hour playing with it, or bend your reed, or if your really desperate, use some fine water resistant sanding paper.

What big composers wrote music for the Alto Saxophone when it was first invented?
The first Saxophone was made around the 1840s and the Alto Saxophone was probably a version of it made a little later. Bizet may have been the very first composer to use it, like for example in his music for L'Arlesienne. Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, has saxophone solo as well, but the orchestration was in fact made by a much later composer, Ravel, when the Saxophone was a little more common (Ravel used it in his own compositions). There are a few Saxophone Concertos, notably the ones made by Glazunov, Ibert, and some similar things by Debussy, that are more in a Classical or 20th Century sense than what saxophone became more popular for in Jazz. Milhaud's Scaramouche is also a famous little suite for the instrument. Over the whole 20th Century into the 21st, there have been many more composers using this fascinating instrument, but the names before were some of the very first.
