Scientific Notation

When using scientific notation, you shift the decimal place over until there is only one digit in front of the decimal place and count how many times the decimal moved. 55,000 would be 5.5x10^4 because the decimal moved over four spots to the left. If the number was .00055 then the answer would've been 5.5x10^-4 because the decimal moved 4 places to the right.

if it is a regular shape block so the volume should be length * weadth * breadth (side * side * side) the density = mass / volume

Scientific Notation helps scientists write big or small numbers in a shorthand way. For example, instead writing 5,230,000,000,000 it would just be easier to write 5.23 x 10 to the 14th power.

340 = 3.4 × 102

±a*10±b, where a is a number between 1 and 10 (1 ≤ a < 10) and b is an integer.

Move 2 decimal places to the right, so the exponent for base 10 is -2. Therefore, 0.025 in Scientific Notation is 2.5 x 10-2
