How do you type scientific notation?
(number) X 10^(power)
example
2.343 X 10^8
----------------------------
1450 = 1.45 x 103
basically you shift the decimal place over to the left and stop just before the last number. Multiply this new number by 10 to the power of the number of decimal places you shifted by.
0.00145 = 1.45 x 10-3
its the same thing for decimal numbers except you shift the decimal place to the right and stop just after the first number greater than 0. you multiply this number by 10 to the negative power of the number of decimal places you shifted by.
6.241 × 1018 written in regular notation is 6,241,000,000,000,000,000
Why do we use scientific nottion?
Scientific notation is a short hand method of writing out very large or very small numbers as for example 1,000,000,000,000,000 is 1.0*10^15 in scientific notation
What does 6 septillion look like when you type it?
Standard Notation: 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
Scientific Notation: (6 x 1024)
Simply just 6 with 24 zeros

The measurement 7947 nm is the same length as cm written in scientific notation?
7947 nm = .0007947 cm = 7.947 x 10^-4 cm
How do you change a number from scientific notation?
Scientific notation is a way of representing numbers in the form
a*10b where 1 ≤ |a| < 10 is a decimal number and b is an integer (negative or positive).
a is called the mantissa and b is called the exponent.
To convert a number in scientific notation to normal form:
· If b is positive, move the decimal point b places to the right in the number a - adding 0s at the end of the number, if required.
· If b is negative, move the decimal point b places to the left in the number a - adding 0s immediately after the decimal point, if required.
For example:
4.56*105 = 456000.
4.56*10-5 = 0.0000456
What is the scientific notation for 0.0000037?
you move the decimal point from where it is to after the 3
so in the end, you count up how many numbers you counted to get to the 3
the scientific notation becomes:
3.7 X 10to the 6th power
How do you do scientific notation on a calculator?
The answer depends on your calculator but many have shortcut keys for "x10x" or something similar.
How are quantities expressed in scientific notations?
Very large numbers or very small numbers can be expressed in scientific notation as in the following examples:
1,000,000,000,000 = 1.0*1012
0.0000001 = 1.0*10-7
