If the downloaded file is of 'scr' type, you need to move it manually to c:\windows unless author's instructions tell you otherwise (sometimes needs to go to c:\windows\system or c:\windows\system32).

To add a new screensaver, move the '.scr' programme to the 'en-US' file and then change the file from '.scr' to '.scr.mui'. Just tried it with the matrix one, and it worked fine (Windows 7). Alternately, in windows 7, you can right-click on the .scr file and click "Install" and it will install it for you.
