Are you allowed to go in the ocean after having a tattoo?
You should not go into the ocean right after you've gotten a tattoo. This could cause the tattoo to not set properly.
What is the difference between a BC and a BCD?
It is a matter of word choice. BC stands for bouyancy compensator, while BCD stands for bouyancy compensator device. They are the same thing, just under slightly different names. They are further broken into three catagories: jacket/vest, back flotation, and horse collar. The latter is rarer in modern diving gear (think of Jaqcques Cousteau), but can still be seen on a few divers, especially those that do a lot of skin diving. Hope this helps. BC was first brought into official used by SSI (Scuba Schools International) in their open water course (which was the first course in scuba to be offered to the public ) and then later, PADI changed it to BCD - basically, to be different. Adding onto what was said above, i have never heard of buoyancy compensator device, but instead buoyancy control device. Buoyancy control device, i think, is more sensible as as saying that something compensates your buoyancy doesn't really make sense.

What is the common depth for beginner scuba divers?
As a beginning diver, you will be certified in an open water course. Upon completion, the diver is cleared to go down 60 ft. It is advisable to get more training such as a deep diver certification if you wish to go farther. The recreational limit is 130 ft. with proper training. Personally, I like 30 ft. depth in the Caribbean waters.
There is no such thing!! I have over 20 Different exam passes, Including being Qualified Instructor, and Commercial Diver , know pretty much everything about diving, but Nature is Nature, and will always remind you that NO ONE IS AN EXPERT in an environment that does not support your life without equipment|!!
Does PADI Certification expire?
Non-professional certifications do not (ie. anything up to Rescue Diver, plus the Specialties).
However, professional ratings (Divemaster, Instructor) will lapse if you don't keep up paying annual membership dues.
Can you scuba dive if you were diagnosed with Otosclerosis?

Why is air that is pressurized needed in scuba diving?
The pressure on a diver's body increases quickly with depth. At the surface we're all breathing air at 14.7 PSIg, or 1 "Atmosphere" (atm). Each 33 feet of sea water results in another 1 atm of pressure. This means, for example, that a diver's body is under a total pressure of 3 atmospheres at 66 feet of sea water (one of air, two of water).
The human respiratory system is designed to operate at normal atmospheric pressure of 14.7 pounds per square inch. If we descend to 33 feet, the water pressure exerts a force of nearly 30 pounds per square inch on our bodies. Our bodies are incapable of breathing against that much pressure. A scuba pressure regulator is designed to deliver air at the same pressure as the surrounding water, allowing us to breathe.
Can you scuba dive with a deviated septum?
Yes, you could. The nasal septum is the central partition in the nose made of bone and a rubbery substance (called cartilage) which separates the two nostrils. It is rarely situated absolutely in the middle but in most people it is straight and fairly centrally placed. However, in some people the septum is either bent or deviated in some way. This can be very mild or, in some cases, so bad that one nostril is completely blocked. Since if you have a deviated septum you should get that fixed by a ear, nose, and throat doctor.

How do I find myself on the PADI student database?
I've lost my PADI certification card and I need it by tomorrow. I've tried to order an eCard, but it can't find me as a student. I've tried both the lookup for when you're actually buying an eCard, and I've tried searching the student database, but neither work. I've emailed them and I'll try calling them later, but as I said, I need a replacement for tomorrow, so I'm trying everything to get this done as fast as possible. Please, if anyone could help that would be amazing.

Because they impair your vision and judgement; two things that are vital to any Divers repertoire. If you do so, you can risk your life and the lives of others.
Scuba Equipment Tips for Your Next Adventure?
There are plenty of people who like the idea of getting some scuba equipment for a sea diving adventure, but not many people understand the proper methods of obtaining the gear. You can choose between buying or renting the scuba equipment while you are on vacation, and different people are going to find different solutions to their scuba problems. If you are thinking about scuba diving on an upcoming vacation, then you may want to keep these tips in mind while shopping around.
Be Careful When Purchasing a TankYou need to be careful when you actually purchase your scuba gear, especially when it comes to getting a tank. You should only buy from reputable shops, but sometimes it is hard to find the right store in an unfamiliar place. The main thing to remember when getting your scuba equipment is that you should not pull the trigger on a deal unless you can verify the store's reputation.
Inspect Your Scuba TankIt is actually rather easy to inspect your scuba gear while making a deal, and even the tank can be checked while you are in a store. To check to see if a tank is in solid working condition, simply remove the rubber cap on top of the tank and make sure that the O ring under the cap is not damaged or placed improperly.
Store Your Scuba Tank ProperlyAfter you have purchased all of your gear, you will want to make sure that you store your equipment in the correct manner. There are plenty of instances where tanks explode in someone's car drunk because it got to hot in the tropical weather. Tanks tend to expand when they are in hot locations, so you need to keep them cool while they are in storage. Whether you are transporting your gear to the scuba dive location or storing a tank in your home, you always need to make sure that the storage facility is in the correct environment.
What is the ocean temperature in West Palm Beach Florida in March for scuba diving?
around a wonderful 80 degrees. My husband and I dive around there and the keys several times a year and will wear only a bathing suit and rash guard. If you intend to dive deeper than 50ft. I would wear atleast a 3 mil suit.
An objects buoyant force and weight mean the same thing?
No. The buoyant force on an object is the portion of its weight that appears to vanish
when the object is in any fluid (could be either a liquid or a gas).
If the object happens to float in a particular fluid, then the buoyant force at that moment
is equal to the object's weight.
Notice that the buoyant force on an object will be different in different fluids.
Before a diver dives will he will take a deep breath or hyperventilate?
Free divers do but scuba divers do not need to. Scuba divers take their air with them and would have no need to hyperventilate.
Can you blow a whistle underwater?
Not with the same effect as in the air. (There are special whistles designed to work underwater.)
The closed whistle (such the metal ones used in sports officiating) create vibration by compressing and releasing air. There are two ways it could be used underwater. If you blow air into a whistle underwater, it will make a whistling sound, but you would have to use enough air to force the water out of the whistle chamber, and the vibrations will be carried differently by the water. It will not carry into the air from any depth at all. If you blow water into a whistle underwater, the water stream will be divided, but the vibration created will not be at an audible frequency, because the liquid is not compressible.
How a Whistle Works
An ordinary whistle works by dividing a moving stream of air, so that one stream concentrates air into a chamber and releases it -- the chamber resonates as it releases the trapped air. A variation (pea whistle) uses a moving sphere within the whistle to strike the sides and create a more forceful vibration. In some musical instruments, such as a flute, a reed causes vibration in the alternating air stream. In horns, it is the vibration of the player's lips, which is amplified by the metal horn body. A whistling sound outside a window (wind, moving vehicle) is similarly caused by escaping air.
To achieve a louder sound, "pealess" sports whistles use specially shaped chambers that concentrate the air flow.
What is the difference between a rail speargun and a normal speargun?
Theres actually two kinds of spearguns, I have 1 of each, both are very powerful.
The pneumatic speargun uses compressed air and then releases it to fire the shaft, while the ''original'' or band speargun uses the tension of bands to fire it. A rail speargun is actually any kind of speargun with a rail equipped on it, so you don't have to go lying around everywhere with the rope floating. My Pneumatic one (cressi sl) has a rope holding mechanism, that releases the rope each time I shoot, its very usefull and somehow similar to the rail. Try Googleing it and see rail speargun pics to get an idea of how are they.
After passing depths of 33 feet or below what can a scuba diver not do?
I have found an article which you might find interesting. Below 33 feet, there may be a difference in the specturm of colours which divers can see. Such as the loss of red light.
Do you need wetsuits in Florida?
That would depend on the time of year, water temp, how long you planned to be in the water, how deep you were diving. Best to plan for needing one and use it if needed. Many Florida divers use shorties rather than full wetsuits.
What is the most important feature of any weight system in open water SCUBA diving?
Being able to dump it easily if required in an emergency.
