How many sea turtle eggs survive?
There are many predators that seek sea turtle eggs. A turtle lays approximately 30 eggs at one time. If a predator gets those eggs then there is little chance any will survive. If the nest is untouched and unharmed about 20 to 25 will survive and about 15 actually make it into the ocean. Of those 15 ten get eaten before they grow up and 3 get killed by humans so only 2 usually grow up to reproduce.

How can you help the endangered leatherback turtle?
First, doing whatever you can to reduce ocean pollution, both physical trash and chemicals. This can be done by making sure you throw trash in the trash can (not where it can go down a storm drain) and if you live near a beach, you can gather garbage on the beach to keep it out of the ocean. By buying organic foods (this reduces chemical pollutants like pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers).
Second, if you buy seafood, try to pick line caught fish. Line caught fish don't ever accidentally catch turtles (although they can catch birds). Being accidentally caught in nets is a threat to the leatherback sea turtles.
Unfortunately, the primary threat they face is egg harvesting. Many people harvest leatherback sea turtle eggs, especially in Southeast Asia. Unfortunately, I am not aware of a way to prevent that from the US, but there are places I've heard of where people keep a watch on sea turtle nests to protect their eggs from harvesting.

Well, different sea turtles eat different things. Green Sea Turltes eat seagrass and algae. They eat fish when they get older. Hawksbill Sea Turtles eat squid and shrimp. Last, Loggerhead Sea Turtles eat crabs ,shrimp, and jellyfish.
Hatchling turtles break out of their eggs by the use of an egg tooth. The egg tooth is a very sharp, small, white tooth on the tip of the turtles beak. It is the only tooth that the turtle will ever have. The baby will break a hole though the tough egg wall and then rest for a bit. Soon the baby will be back at the job and will use the egg tooth to cut though the egg enough to crawl out. Or he might break open the egg and then choose to sit in his egg for a couple days before finally coming out. Once the baby has broken through the egg wall the egg tooth pops off.

That really depends on the type of sea turtle. I know that the Loggerhead Sea Turtle spends it's early life relatively close to shore until they are matured and then they move farther out. When they are at their adult stage they live at the bottom and occasionally come to the top. Females of course come ashore to lay eggs.

How long can sea turtles live?
Well, some adult sea turtles can live to be over 140 years old. If they get to their maximum size there aren't many things that can kill them and the things that can usually won't because of the trouble of the shell when a simpler and easier meal is just a quick swim away. The average life time for a sea turtle is only 20 years however, this is because the majority of sea turtles get devoured on the beach by gulls or foxes. The majority of the turtles that make it into the water are easy prey for medium size fish too. they can live for about 100 years
Would eating a jellyfish kill a sea turtle?
Yes they do in fact sea turtles also eat sea weed and fish and sea turtles in turn get eaten by killer whales, providing an effective food chain
I believe you meant how do they not get stung by jellyfish in which case sea turtles have a very thick skin and usually bite the jellyfish from above eating the main body and the beak usually shearing the tentacles of the jellies off. They do occasionally get stung, but it is not fatal thanks to many years of genetic evolution of the species.
What is a green sea turtles defence mechanism?
How do sea turtles protect themselves? The most obvious answer to this question is prominently displayed upon their backs. The hard, bony external shell, called a carapace, not only indicates the relative age and species of sea turtles; it also functions as a natural suit of armor.
Unlike land turtles, however, sea turtles cannot retract their heads and limbs under their shells. Their bodies are streamlined for endurance and speed in the water, which comes in handy when adult sea turtles are confronted by their primary predators: large sharks and killer whales. Ironically, the characteristics that make them powerful swimmers (large paddle-like foreflippers and smaller, rudder-like hind flippers) also make sea turtles clumsy and virtually powerless on land.
In addition to their shells, sea turtles are armed with claws on each foreflipper, large upper eyelids to protect their eyes, and acute senses of sight and smell under water. Neither sea turtles nor land turtles have teeth, but they have well-built jaws that vary in shape according to species and diet (herbivore, carnivore or omnivore).
Do tiger sharks eat loggerhead turtles?
Big turtles can eat little sharks, but they might be too fast to catch.
Why should people stop killing sea turtles?
They are endangered, and without them it could mess up the food pyramid. Like sea turtles eat fish and if there are no sea turtles the fish population will go up and be to big so there won't be enough food for them. And in many Asian stories, sea turtles bring good luck to people who save them. And sea turtles are beautiful for people to watch and be amused.
