Hi- welcome to Crystal River! I could not find a public listing for the housing department in your city- so my suggestions are a)to call a housing department in a nearby city- who could provide you with the number you are looking for. One such housing department is Brooksville Housing Authority" which can be reached at (352) 796-6547 or..b) calling your local city hall (352-795-4216). While this option may be a little too personal, they have a duty to help all their citizens- I'm sure they would be glad to help.

What is the Federal Housing Authority?

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) is a U.S. government agency established in 1934, primarily to improve housing standards and conditions, provide mortgage insurance on loans made by approved lenders, and promote access to affordable housing. By insuring loans, the FHA encourages lenders to extend credit to borrowers who may not qualify for conventional loans, thus helping to stimulate the housing market. The agency plays a crucial role in increasing homeownership rates, particularly among low- and moderate-income households.

How long is the waiting list for X Housing Authority?

THIS IS A FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTION, AND THE ANSWER APPLIES TO ALL SUCH QUESTIONS:

There is NO specific answer to this question. When someone is on the waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher Program (also known as Section 8), they are assigned a position, and continue to go up the list until their name gets to the top of the list. HOWEVER: many people will be surprised (and really pissed off!) to find that their name has been deleted from the list for no apparent reason. The most common reason is that they failed to communicate to the Housing Authority IN WRITING, that they have moved to a new address. Or they didn't respond to a form that the Housing Authority has sent the household to ensure they are still interested in the program.

HOW MUCH IS A SECTION 8 ONE BEDROOM VOUCHER IN CHICAGO?

What you are referring to is payment standards. A Housing Authority sets payment standards raging from 90 to 110 percent of the fair market value for the bedroom size that has been approved for the household. Since I'm not from Chicago I can't specify. But in all likelihood the payment standard is going to be the lowest allowable percent (90%). Keep in mind that the Fair Market Rent, or FMR, factors in a reasonable utility allowance in its figures. So let's say that the FMR in Chicago is $1,200 for a 1-bedroom dwelling. 90% of that is going to be $1080. This is the payment standard. The housing assistance payment you can expect the housing authority to pay is the payment standard minus your total tenant payment, which is one-third of your total adjusted monthly income (that is, monthly income minus allowable deductions, such as for $400 one elderly or disabled adult, plus $480 for each child in the household). After the utility allowance is deducted from your Total Tenant Payment, or TTP, you can expect to pay that amount each month out of your pocket.

This depends on how many DUI convictions, and the age of such. Under federal law, the housing authority has the right to reject applications of those with alcohol or drug abuse histories, unless they can prove that they have been to and completed an approved rehabilitation program for such substance abuse.
